I have a goal.. I am not sure what it is yet, but I will know when I get there.

OH, I know, its to rule this thread and be made the Queen... Oh, wait.. As long as I am not the Marie Antoinette of the Michigan thread... I think I will slow down... LOL.

Ok, she is up and walking around very gingerly. She's puffed up though. She's got food and water in with her. I hope nothing is damaged internally...

Do we have to get you a T-shirt that says so for ChickenStock.....just so everyone knows the queen is! And don't say you want a crown ....please!

Chick days has begun at my TSC too. It just seems way too early. I didn't buy any, but enjoyed getting to watch the antics. The bantam bin was full of the most active little fluff balls!

I just realized that Opa has been missing in action....didn't recall seeing his early morning post either. Hope everything is OK. Maybe he's taking a break.

Perhaps he got iced and his power went out? That's what I'm deciding to believe.

Properly prepared surfaces are unlikely to peel or chip. The key is the prep work which you did well. Moisture is usually the culprit that causes blisters, peeling, chipping, etc. and when people just re-paint over that, the problem continues. My only concern (very minor) would be to allow your interior to dry well after you have scrubbed it down.

And if you really want to have the nest boxes moved, let me know. I'm not too bad with a hammer.

And now that I know where you live.
Thanks, RaZ, for the reassurance. The painting was quite a project, I remember. I kept slapping on coats of paint and being amazed at how the OSB clearly needed more. (I know I used a full 2 gallons, because I remember a certain trip to Lowe's to get another gallon in the middle of doing a coat--I had liberal splashes of gray all over my face and hair and clothes, and there are still trces of it inside my car. Luckily that is consisdered standard dress code inside Lowe's...) Meanwhile the chicks were rapidly maturing in the garage. Due to the interior and exterior painting, not to mention all the adding of ventilation and hardware cloth and secure latches and etc, (oh and my slackerly ways and procrastination may have played a part), it was over a month from when the coop was delivered to when the birds moved in. The first egg was laid about 2-1/2 weeks later. So not a huge margin of extra time there. Oh, don't get the idea that I go all crazy in scrubbing it when I do a complete clean out (about every six months)... I just spot scrub the poop on the walls as needed. I do take out the roosts and the cement blocks I have in there for various reasons, scrub and hose those down and put them back in when they're dry. Which because of my slackerly ways and procrastination (see above), always ends up being after dusk because I get a late start. And boy, do those chickens set up a huge fuss when they want to roost and the roosts are not where they belong! They give me a thorough cussing out every time. Which so far has not motivated me to start more promptly... Anyway, RaZ, if I get brave enough and irritated enough to attempt it, I might take you up on your offer of help. I'm a little paranoid that I might damage the coop in trying to remove the nest boxes. (Although if I make a hole in the wall, I suppose I could just add another ventilation window there... hmmmmm). My problem with making improvements is... well, you know the "Serenity Prayer"? I kinda have serenity coming out of my ears. I have no problem as a general rule in "accepting the things I cannot change." I just don't tend to "have the courage to change the things I can" or "the wisdom to know the difference." But I can accept that about myself. With serenity. :D

Well, if you are going to do it may as well do it right... I keep telling my self that...

no, I am going to wear a t-shirt with my screen name and my real name on it.

ok... she is now upright, not standing yet, but up right... I did get her to drink some water. I hope she's only bruised up a bit. I am going to get her a bowl of feed and a 75 watt bulb. I turn the heat down to 60 at night, and I think with out her mama to sit on her, might not be warm enough. If she starts standing again, think it would be alright to return her to her mom tonight, or should I wait and keep her in overnight? I am hoping she is able to stand... Poor baby.

I would be concerned about the fish tank getting too warm and lacking adequate ventilation. Do you have a laundry basket you could use instead? At least use a thermometer to see just how hot a glass cage can get.
