Pines shavings are fine. That is what I was and a lot of folks. Just make sure they are kiln dried. Now pine saw dust is a no no. Causes respiratory problems.
 
ok... she is now upright, not standing yet, but up right... I did get her to drink some water. I hope she's only bruised up a bit. I am going to get her a bowl of feed and a 75 watt bulb. I turn the heat down to 60 at night, and I think with out her mama to sit on her, might not be warm enough. If she starts standing again, think it would be alright to return her to her mom tonight, or should I wait and keep her in overnight? I am hoping she is able to stand... Poor baby.
 
Poor baby is right. I'd keep her in the house til you go to bed. If she has perked up even more then put her with her momma before you turn in. I'd be afraid that being cold (since you turn your heat down....think we all do) would add more stress. JMO
 
I am going to take the light that I use to keep the water from freezing in the coop and bring it in and clamp it over the fish tank. I figure it won't get to hot in there then, and she'll be warm enough. She is standing, but she's breathing heavy, but not panting. I can't believe my dogs got her, were trying to play tug with her, and she is just bruised up. No punctures, and I checked her over real well. If babygirl stops in tonight, I am gonna ask her opinion also. But for now, I think she'll stay in over night. I am nervous of the big girls picking on her in the coop.

Funny thing I saw today, Leial, my sweet little silkie mama, became a psycho chicken today at Skeeter! I didn't think she had it in her, but she did! She went after Skeeter like a rooster would, feet up in the air and all! I cracked up laughing. Protective mama! Skeeter I think was a little stunned, because she jumped back, and then steered clear of Leila and her chicks with her chicks. LOL. I thought Skeeter was a demon...

LOL, I am creeping up on RaZ. LOL.

I can talk. That is for sure, but it is really only because I can't stay away from such lovely people.

Also, I don't have anything better to do at the moment.

But wait till spring gets here and I can start planting and building 2 new raised boxes. I am looking forward to that. Filling them with soil though... that'll be the hard part!
