When I read the posts referring to being exasperated by what your children have or haven't done, I can't help but wish mine were still here to irritate me. They grow up much to fast. My baby is 40. When I think about how old having all of your children now in there 40s makes me I'm glad that I started my family while I was still in grade school.

Interesting. Most are black or dark grey and gold, like these from McMurray.

I have seen that! But our Bobbi was yellow and we thought she was a silkie because of the pouffy face and beard! I wish I could access the photos on the stored hard drive........ Yes, she was a larger chick than the Seabright and she was pouffy and yellow!

This BYC site has some photo of d'uccle chicks. Just type in the search d'uccle and then you can scroll down a bit and click on mille fleur or porcelain and see each chick color.

Fuzzy- Olive and grandma are right that the grey/lemon ones are porcelain. And as grandma said, watching the color changes as they grow is pretty neat.

Nova- thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I spotted the words 'straight run' which means DH is unlikely to let me. He's not to the point yet of processing any unwanted roos whether he does it or someone else.

As for the weather, I am not liking it right now. Especially since they are saying that the rain will be turning into snow for about 3 inches worth. It boggles my mind that the weather tends to hold nice until the day before I have to work. I'm not a big fan of delivering in snowy conditions.

Olive, you should be able to access the photos on your hard drive by clicking on the insert image icon in the editor. When the upload image box appears click on browse computer, then click browse.

Opa- I have three fine young irritators to loan you if missing yours is making you blue. They are in rare form tonight.

fuzzy, it's those tiny red mites. Thanks for the info tho. I'll try it and hope or the best.
babygirl, Let me know how the thunder shirt works. My lil pappy freaks out when it storms. You should see him try and hide behind the toilet in the camper!

Guys sure have been chatty tonight! Have a good night.

Quote: Box 'em up and ship them down.

I used to tell people that I wouldn't take a million bucks for any of my sons, and I would give you a nickle for another one just like them. I'm not sure if they grew up because of me or to spite me, but I certainly am proud of the men they have become.

ISA Brown - 3; Silver Laced Wyandottes - 3; and BSL - 2. What was I thinking?

RaZ - I had to look at that picture for a long time before I figured out that was a glove stuck behind the wire and not a baby turkey!

The chicks are adorable!

Hi guys, I feel like I am party crashing here...

I live in West Michigan and soon will be picking up 5 new 8 - 10 week chicks from Destiny Farm over in Brighton area.

I was hoping I could hear from one or more people who have had experience with them, particularly in reference to how insanely carefully I should quarantine the new chicks.

I have heard that you don't need to quarantine chicks from a hatchery, but as this is a farm hatchery and also because the chicks are not day olds, I am assuming I should.

We have 5 hens that we have had for a year now, so adding to the flock is a new enterprise for us. I would appreciate any info anyone has for me, thanks!

Welcome Juise! You're not crashing, we're glad to have you! I agree with everyone else, better to quarantine than lose them.

I am just flabbergasted that he went to the front door. It isn't much of a wind break, not at all sheltered, so there isn't much of a reason for him to be there in the snow and wind. Unless he knew humans come too and fro out that door sometimes?

You're probably right Stacy, he had seen people came and go through that door and had the brains to go there when he knew he was in trouble. Sounds like a keeper to me! Smart boy.

Well, for the first time, Mama is back roosting with the others and the babies are all down in the dog crate huddled together. The heat lamp is still on and it's not that cold so I'm not worried about them. They're not calling for her so I guess everyone is OK.

I am immune to TSC at least until I get back from Florida. Can't get anything before I go.

I don't think I'd be bragging if I was 22 and still in grade school.

Ba-zing.
