Mine get regular protein feed. As for the Roo, he eats what the girls get (layer feed), always has right from the start. I have been giving mine tuna fish mixed in cooked oatmeal during the winter as well.....it's a warm treat & they love it!Quote:Originally Posted by M.sueIs tuna fish (packed in water) just as good for them.
Depends on whether you feed regular protein feed, or high protein gamebird formula. You just have to watch not to give too much protein or salt to avoid gout. Laying feed is supposed to be bad for roos too. I fed mine tuna and salmon once a week through winter and i didn't have any problems. I have heard of people mixing cod liver oil in the feed for the omegas, but i wonder if it makes the eggs taste funny?
So if layer feed is suppose to bad for the Roo, what should I look for symptom wise if it should pose a problem and what would I feed him? He's perfectly normal, healthy & active and it doesn't seem to bother him in anyway.
