Some people here have mowed, I've just let the geese out.

Ha! But wait, isn't this a self-perpetuating cycle? You let the geese out, they trim the grass and simultaneously fertilize it, more grass grows, you need more geese to eat the grass, more fertilizer, more grass, more geese...

You have a lawn mower that prevents the grass from growing back?

Gloomy morning here, soon to be a gloomy afternoon. Another freeze warning for tonight and probably the next several, Didn't have one last night so I uncovered my plants, got down to 32.7. It's 51 now but very breezy, not in the mood to muck out the coop yet. I hate gloomy days, I like sunshine! Mrs Duck and her idiot children tried to stay outside last night, she on the ground and the 9 of them inside the beat up old duck pen with the busted down doors. I had to get a broom and shoo them in. The ducklings don't have any feathers yet! I would think they'd have a few started being 5 weeks old, but these guys are slow growing for some reason.

Oh and I'll whine if I want to!

I keep thinking the best way to roof it would be the corigated (Sp?) roofing plastic. (the kind that comes in sheets) because if I got white or green it would let light in, but I'm worried about if it can hold up to snow in the winter and if it tends to crack and leak? Anyone have any experience with this stuff? I've been checking out the coop pages and getting lots of ideas.

oh...and I'm still waiting for that broody hen's eggs to hatch...any day now!

I have the clear corrigated roofing on my run over 1x2 welded wire. I don't know how far the roof beams are apart, but my builder said I would never have a snow load problem. Of course, last year was my first year with it so I don't know how long it will hold up before it starts to crack or deteriorate. I really do like that it lets so much light in though.

Welcome to Anish and EeyoreD! So glad to have you both on the MI Thread!

Whine-free Wednesday sounds good to me! It's beautiful outside! I sat on the deck with my coffee this morning and just soaked in the sun. Think I'm going to go out and rake out some of the flower beds and pick up sticks in the yard before I have to go to church to help with our Community Supper this afternoon. Everyone have a great day!

I've got one off to school who wasn't smiling at me when he got on the bus. He was refusing to wear a sweatshirt, said it's to nice out. The temps are warmer but the air this early still has a little nip to it.
Don't you just love them, though? My youngest thought she would go to school in shorts and tee yesterday with no jacket. Um, nope. She was not a happy camper. LOL.

Prayers are out there for everyone.

I candled this morning and I am now down to 19 eggs out of 42. (5 are mine, 14 are Robins). None of them looked like quitters, just not fertile. I believe a week from today is lockdown. So let the Hatching Games....BEGIN!! ...

"and may the odds be ever in my favor!"

:: Boom :: ....(x19)....

:: chuckles to those who get that ::
Just read the book.

Mowing in March IS a great thing. I've mowed twice so far.

It's better than plowing snow.

RaZ, I do believe my son would not agree as he doesn't like doing either. Of course, he had no choice anyway and mowed the side yard on Sunday.

Welcome EeyoreD. And good morning.

I do have some good news today. We are going to be adding to the family. We are getting the goats from babigyrl's friend next week. DH and my daughters are super excited. We are already looking into ways of making goat cheese and mozzarella.
