DH just came home from town. This is what he got me.

I didn't know anything about it, but now I have to find a separate spot for them.

But in a good way!

Just nervous about chicks from an unknown location!

The girls (maybe a roo or two?) are in their new coop. They seem to really like it out there. It was fun to watch them burrow down in the fresh bedding and dust themselves. Here are a few pics.

Well 17 of 19 are out. One loss. It hatched with a HUGE tumor on it's belly and couldn't move one side of it's body. I put her down last night poor thing. So that makes 16 that made it to the brooder. Two left in the incubator. Here are some of the non(?) -Marans that hatched out of the bunch of cuties:

Robin may be able to help identify these little buggers.

I am not sure how this will come out but this chick is a chocolate brown:

Lakenvelder....I think:

hmmm....barnyard special?? (Robin may know)

My one and only bantam mutt cutie patootie!!

and I had two blue little chickies hatch. Have no idea what they are. lol

Had a rough week, so am thrilled to have 37 chicks out so far! STILL can't post from my computer, and can't do pics on my phone, so no pictures yet. But they are sooo cute!

Taprock, I split the eggs you saved for me with a friend (kind of ran out of incubator space  ), and all 3 of tbe ones I kept hatched :D

Hey Jaime - Are those from my eggs? Third picture down looks like a Lakenvelder. How adorable. The blue ones look like Andalusions.

I knew I got the Lakenvelder chicks wrong. Thank you, I believe you're right. It's the third one and i had two of them hatch. So excited. The ones that came from my eggs are all black with white bums...and some have white on their heads (probably mixed with my barred rocks). I am still waiting for 2 more to hatch but the incubator is so quiet I am wondering if they won't. :(

I took a chance and stuffed them all (yes all 16) under Mavis. She happily adopted them in and then promptly hissed at me and took a piece of my forearm (Owww!!). There is a heat lamp in the brooder room so that Mavis doesn't have to feel so nervous about keeping them all warm but they all fit nicely there in the nest box with her. lol
