Blarg, allergies plus a cold is a recipe for misery. I'd avoided getting sick all winter, and now I have something, yeck.

You know, that toxic plant list makes me wonder if my hen who has been sick ate something poisonous. It has been over a week with barely any improvement, though.

SO anyway. Not much going on over here in my world. BF has been talking non-stop about buying a truck camper so he's been showing me 8 bajillion pictures of different ones. He found a 2012 that is only like $9K at some surplus place that we looked at last night, it's brand new, never been used. Nothing is wrong with it either, it's just super cheap, so he's thinking of buying it. He's itching to go camping, and so am I!! I just need to find some chicken babysitters...

the only thing I didn't like about a truck camper... was it's stuck on your mode of transportation if you have to run to the store or want to sight see. I did see someone put a truck camper on a truck bed made into a trailer once... that looked like a snazzy idea! We went from a nice 27" camper......... to a tent. I sure do miss it when it's stormy out! We tent camp from our motorcycles in the summer. It's suprizing how much stuff we can get in our trailer. One of our favorite places is off lake MI at Orchard Beach camp ground in Manistee.

Hope you feel better Stacykins!

I know I keep saying it... But it helps to be reminded sometimes with so many on here... I am expecting chicks at the end of May... If I were to hatch some roos (they will more than likely be mutts) will people buy them at chickenstock if I have never vaccinated or had them tested?
All the eggs are coming from the same flock and I will not be adding anymore chicks for quite some time after this batch. I know there are diseases that can be transfered inside the eggs, but I am getting the eggs from Lovemychicklets and I believe her to be trustworthy.

As for more biosecurity... does it matter what kind of shoe I wear? Just as long as I can slip them off before I go inside?
I got some croc sandals and I was going to use them but they are open toed.

Sorry, just full of questions today!!!

(How do I get the little blurb at the bottom when I post?)

babigyrl, juise, and sarah: Gamers with chickens unite! haha I tried to hide it because my social circles have collided so many times they are more of a social pile. Can't wait to talk chickens and games at Chickenstock!

Anyone in the Muskegon area want a Flemish Giant Bunny? I have 5 weeks old beauties that will be ready in a few weeks. They make great pets and all of them are imprinted and soooo friendly. PM me for details.

Oh yes, soooo interested, but will have to wait until maybe next year. Will you have them then???

Yea I can totally see that. My BF is the type that would take it off the truck and park it for the duration of the trip though. However, the reason he wants a truck camper is because when we go camping, we always haul the Jeep on a car hauler and go play in the woods with that (which can also be a mode of transportation too if necessary). We have always been tent-campers which is ok with me; I don't mind because I love roughing it. The more rustic the better; give me a lighter, some water, and a tent and it's a good time for me! (He's the one who requires a toilet, haha!) So he was debating between a trailer camper (con - can't bring the Jeep then), a small Jeep-size trailer camper (con - then if we break the Jeep in the woods we're somewhat screwed), or a truck camper (con - have to always take the truck). So I think the truck camper is our best option because we can also take the car hauler w/the Jeep. I agree though, it surely SUCKS to be in a tent when it's raining! I wish I had a motorcycle...he has one and I'd like to learn how to ride one too so I don't always have to be on the back. I think the idea of bike camping is awesome!

I just sent you a p.m. about Oliver, the 14 pound vaccinated, neutered, friendly little pig on RescueMe.org. I bet he won't be homeless very long......he's cute!

I could be wrong, but I think SC wants something to eat. ;)

You know, I'm really not sure what, exactly, is wrong with them. Perhaps a study is in order?

People are not likely to buy mutt roos if you coat them in gold leaf and adorn them with jewels. Okay, well, maybe if you did all that. Maybe. If you don't have a plan to use/dispose of excess roosters it is unwise to hatch chickens. In general, if something is of no worth to you, it's of no worth to others. Roosters are a dime a dozen, mutt roosters are a dime a truckload. Don't depend on sales of them to reduce your population.

Mutt roos make tremendous soup.

Ha I totally get the "closet gamer" thing. Despite the fact that so many more people play games now there's still some stigma even though the stereotypes no longer apply.

I used to game (WoW for a long time, I think I still have time on my Rift subscription but I haven't logged in in ages) but I just don't seem to have the time for it now.
