All I can picture is this rooster doing his business w/the ladies and then they gang attack him afterwards. Chickens are so funny!

Raz, your wyandottes are the same age as mine right, about 7.5 wks? Are yours bigger than your other breeds of the same age? Mine are a little; is that because they are considered dual purpose birds? I will have to post another pic of one of them, I'm almost sure it's a roo; if not then it's way more developed than all the rest. No one has attempted crowing yet, but I think it'll be hilarious if/when they do.

vjwilmoth I was looking at your chicken album, noticed you called it the girls...yours are for sure all female? That's cool; I wanted mine to be but I got two wyandottes because they were so cute and they were from a straight run batch so I have no idea what they are yet.

Haha, yea that's pretty much how I am. If it doesn't interest me, I ignore it. Moving along! lol

Hey does anyone here raise peafowl? Are they difficult? I always though they would be fun but if its a huge PITA then nevermind

I raise Peafowl and they are fairly easy. Not difficult at all. The Peahens sit on the eggs and hatch the babies then raise them.

okay, BANTIES have to go.

I love them- they are a friendly bunch...and a bunch they are! I am over-run with banties..they are a bunch of serama mixes so they are small, and some of these roos are totally adorable little bitty things- and you know, they just arent my style,,,I raise Ugly roos. Some of them have pullet counterparts that would match up nicely with them...a pair of this, a trio of that...

However, the crow fests and territorial marches have begun, and my yard feels very small. They are nine weeks old.

Feel free to come help yourself.

I dont think they would be worth the trouble of processing- couldnt be more than a nugget on them, would take too many for a pot of soup..I dont know what one actually does with banty roos..

my husband said "They are nice looking. Donate them to 4-h"...uh, I think 4-h raises enough of their own..but does anyone have any idea what I can do with them?

Cool. What do they eat? Do you feed them the same as chickens, or do you have to get a special food for them? Can you eat their eggs like chicken eggs (I guess I mean, would you want to eat them), and do they lay a lot? Are they a lot more expensive? Sorry I'm suddenly full of questions on this, haha!

I have 2 friends that raise them. The guy in Hartland lets them free range and hasn't lost any to predators.
The other is Scott at Grass Roots, he usually lets the male roam the grounds but the hens are penned.

My Wyandottes are about the same age and they don't seem to be bigger than the other ones. The SLW that the hawk got on Oester was the male. The whole flock is hens and it's about time that those Uggos start earning their keep around here.

Don't look at me, I already have no idea what to do with Muttsy when he turns out to be a roo. Which I am sure he is, but I am still grasping at that little teeny tiny meeny bitty hope that maaayyybbe he's a she. He's some sort of silky mix.
