Hm, I never would have thought to eat the flowers, but the greens, yes. What do they taste like, are they similar to any other green or veggie? Im curious now, we have a lot of those in our yard, lol.

Just go try them! As long as you don't put anything on your yard obviously.

Had a chance to let the little ones free range for a bit this afternoon....it was their first time. They've been outside but not totally out to roam free. They stuck fairly close to the tractor but were curious to explore.

Such fun, yesterday was our little ones' first time out of the tractor, too. They were still within the quarantine fence, but that's quite a bit of room. It was like the big girls hadn't noticed them while they were in the tractor, they sure seemed surprised yesterday!! It was so funny to watch them all stare at each other.

Don't forget Dandelion and Clover Jellies! Another great, edible use for the flowers.

Yes, yes, yes! So, so good. Also, we have made clover "honey" before, it was super super super good but took a hundred thousand million bazillion flowers to make.

I am on the very very last book of Sherlock Holmes. I already don't know what to read next.

Sorry to hear about the sow being evil and the broken toe, Olive.

As for dandelions and clover I know people who eat them in salads regularly. They are good to feed to ducks too. My sister in law makes violet jelly so I will have to tell her about clover since she is more adventurous than me.

The weather is gloomy but I can't complain because it is still a bit warm here. I tried giving yogurt to the chickens last night but they hated it so I we are going to try meal worms later this week after we give them some grit. The oldest ones are getting lots of feathers in and I hope the weather warms up enough to put them in a coop with a small light really soon.

We are on trick 3 for keeping most of the water in the ducks or in the waterer. I am not certain how our 2 liter converted thing is going to work but my husband is proud of himself. I will have to clean the tub again tonight and from what I read that is fairly common.

I have a stack of books I'd like to get reading, but I have a bunch of homework to do.

Have you guys ever read House of Leaves?

So sorry to hear about your toe Olive.

My middle son, Benjamin, is running a temp of 103.4. New something had to be wrong as he was quite sedate for way too long.

Sarah: The Song of Fire and Ice series is pretty good. I am only on book 2 and they are looong but I have read stuff as complicated.

Juise: Depending on what you like to read I have a list a mile long for recommendations.

Opa: That is a great looking turkey. I saw some jennies earlier in the year near our house but we are too close to other homes to go picking off any bird.

Ladyfeather, I am in need of branching out, I am run out and there are only so many times I can reread my favourite authors, no matter how good they are. I like sci fi / fantasy, but also like things like Sherlock Holmes, Jules Verne, etc., you get the idea. I have a hard time trying to find new authors, there are so many trashy / poorly written sci fi books out there.

I will not read Stephen King, or Terry Goodkind, which seem to be the first things people suggest to me for some reason. I do not like them, I think they are terribly cheesy and poorly written, so I will get that out of the way and hope I didn't just terribly crush anyone, lol.

On the subject of cheesy and poorly written, however, I will admit a guilty love of The Wheel of Time series, though.. and I feel kind of crappy for saying it, since the man died, but... I love it so much more since Brandon Sanderson took over, he is very, very talented.

What sort of genre is that series? Ive never heard of it. I was recommending House of Leaves if nobody had read it; it's VERY weird and interesting. Extremely difficult to follow at times; some pages the type is diagonal, or only on a corner of the page, and some pages have like 5 words on them. It was like a really bad dream, but pretty cool. haha

Same here Juise...I have a giant bookshelf if you want some recommendations
