Good Morning Michigan!

DH and I have been back in Michigan for about 1 week and guess we brought the cool weather with us??
We kept hearing how warm it was here and so we leave Florida one week early and we are created with cool temps. Ah well....Michigan weather!

Great to be back....no place like home!!

Ya well, you need to see her pony, I mean dog. LOL
Oh yea? Is it a Dane? lol

Farmerboy16 sounds like youre having a heck of a time w/that fence and the animals lately!! Glad you got it figured out.

Opa drive safe!!

fifelakelooper welcome back to Michigan!!

My two bantam cochins are brooding hard. My frizzle decided to really commit to her golfballs and ripped out all her feathers. Their timing sucks.

kimmie6067 - They pull out their breast feathers to get some skin on egg warming action. I guess the golfballs are hard to keep warm.

Welcome back Fife....There is no place like home and Michigan is the best!! JMO

This morning I put the tractor out by the big coop so the little ones can get use to seeing the big girls & vise verse. They have seen each other on & off the past week and this weekend I plan on integrating them all together.

I was greeted this morning again with a strange sound that sounded like a broken fog horn.....Yup, a beginners crow!! Ms.Shelby is now Mr. Shelby!

Here he is striking a pose & strutting his stuff with Lil Blu.

I just took the time to read all of yesterday's posts. I had replies..... and then they were gone.

Here way up north I am curious how much fruit damage we have. We still have leaves just coming out and no blossoms at all. Hopefully we will end up with some apples.

Welcome - yes you, can't remember but the one with the beautiful eggs.

Fife - welcome back.

Raz - I agree with who ever said it - you sound so grizzled but you're just a cutie

M2M - the last panic attack I had was at the dentist. Me and dentists, long bad story. This past month when I had to have 2 root canals done I told the endontist that having another attack was my biggest fear. Great guy that he is, he made sure I had a tech with me the whole time who asked me questions and kept me talking so I was distracted. Then he talked non stop the whole procedure and was very distracting.

Yesterday I hear all sorts of noise outside. I go out to find my son making "guinea noises" although that's not what they sounded like. He found he could make the noise and the wild turkeys in the woods would gobble back. Later in the afternoon we had a group of ten in the back field. My son then belly crawled out to see if he could sneak up on them. He made it about half way until the last three toms took off. When he came in I asked him "You do realize when you pop your head up, if you can see them, they can see you/" He didn't.

It is supposed to rain the rest of the week up here so today is my day to finish my little coop. I really want to move my chicks out next week. They are all fully feathered except for the ugly duckling chick. Poor guy. I can tell them all apart but haven't come up with names for all of them yet.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone! I see the topic is fruit trees. We do have some blossoms on one of our Apple trees but haven't seen any bees. Last year was the first year we got apples.

I have changed my email address for home....I notified BYC so guess they will fix it??
I got a email from a Michigander a sec ago so guess I can still get email on that old account.

I will try to check in mornings or evenings now that we are back but you know what it is like when you just get home and it is SPRING....so much activity. Fun stuff I think...I like to prepare for spring...just not for winter! Ha.

Have a wonderful day!

Hi Fife welcome back! Spring in northern Michigan is the most beautiful time of year.

My sensible apple trees have not yet budded out. They were selected especially for northern climates, and bloom later than other apple trees.

I was anxious to clean out my coops and bring home my flock from my chicken caretaking friend. The RV coop worked great for the winter and I won't be using it next winter so it is up for sale as of right now! I plan on taking pictures of it today and posting on Craigslist and also 3 rabbit cage/hutches.

We won't be doing rabbits again...and as for my chickens I have 3 other coops and a plan for a BYC'er to sell some of my breed back to me each spring...as long as we remain in Michigan.

The first day back my 9 hens all gave me the gift of one large egg each! What a greeting!!

This Friday DH has a heart appointment in Grand Rapids and we are swinging by Howell to BJ's Poultry to pick up 6 more chickens. Looking forward to that.

You can contact me about the Coopdeville or hutchs here or watch the N. Michigan Craigslist.

Great to be back....no place like home!!

Welcome home Linda!
