Since it is a gorgeous, sunny day here with only a light wind, today was DOGGY BATH DAY!!!!!!!!!!

I love doggy bath days. They would rather skip it. But now they smell oh so pretty! And dogs always have such funny post bath antics. Rolling, snorting, zooming around at top speed, so adorable!

I am petsitting my father's two hounds, so it there were a few more to wash than usual. But now he'll get to take home pretty smelling pups!

All my animals are brilliant

In example...I had George, my splash silkie cockerel, out in the yard and he wanted to get to the roo on the other side of the 2ft tall fence...so what does he do? He bauwks and runs face first into it and then was like "I meant to do that" and started pecking at the ground

OMG this literally made me laugh out loud. Thanks!!

What was I thinking? In the past five minutes the puppy has: attacked the laundry rack, tried to chew his way through the window, stole food literally out from under the nose of our dog whose mouth is as big as the puppy's whole body, humped DH's tennis shoes, played tug 'o war with my rug (my rug that is 10'x7'), played tug 'o war with the blinds on the sliding glass door, chewed on six chair legs and one mission style table, ran off with a flip flop, ran off with a paper grocery sak, tried to run off with the front door mat, annnnndd bit the Schnauzer's butt. These are only the things he's done in the past five minutes that required correction/redirection. The other 40% of his time is spent attacking/chewing on/playing with his actual toys and running full tilt around the house. It's like having a tiny, ball of black and white energizer bunny.
Have you considered using a cage in the training process? There is a lot to be gained . check it out. Puppies are so much fun though. This too shall come to pass and you will have a herding dog. Cute post. Made me laugh. oh! LOL.

Anyone looking for some hens? We want to thin out our chicken population. They are about 8 weeks old. I have a mix of NH reds, leghorns, isa and barred rocks. About 110 total. I have a few cockerels too. Send an e-mail to [email protected] if you're interested. I'm located in Lapeer County. Thanks!

kimmie6067 - They pull out their breast feathers to get some skin on egg warming action. I guess the golfballs are hard to keep warm.

I didn't know that, learn something new every single day.

I just took the time to read all of yesterday's posts. I had replies..... and then they were gone.

Here way up north I am curious how much fruit damage we have. We still have leaves just coming out and no blossoms at all. Hopefully we will end up with some apples.

Welcome - yes you, can't remember but the one with the beautiful eggs.

Fife - welcome back.

Raz - I agree with who ever said it - you sound so grizzled but you're just a cutie

M2M - the last panic attack I had was at the dentist. Me and dentists, long bad story. This past month when I had to have 2 root canals done I told the endontist that having another attack was my biggest fear. Great guy that he is, he made sure I had a tech with me the whole time who asked me questions and kept me talking so I was distracted. Then he talked non stop the whole procedure and was very distracting.

Yesterday I hear all sorts of noise outside. I go out to find my son making "guinea noises" although that's not what they sounded like. He found he could make the noise and the wild turkeys in the woods would gobble back. Later in the afternoon we had a group of ten in the back field. My son then belly crawled out to see if he could sneak up on them. He made it about half way until the last three toms took off. When he came in I asked him "You do realize when you pop your head up, if you can see them, they can see you/" He didn't.

It is supposed to rain the rest of the week up here so today is my day to finish my little coop. I really want to move my chicks out next week. They are all fully feathered except for the ugly duckling chick. Poor guy. I can tell them all apart but haven't come up with names for all of them yet.

When I used to have to go to the dentist gas was my friend, really good friend. However I no long worry about the dentist because Sjogrens Syndrome robbed me of them, darn it.

This was just to funny, I could just see that happening. LOL

I hope I'm not hijacking this thread, but I live in Shelby Township, MI and I am trying to organize a group of people who are interested in having backyard chickens to help me get our ordinances AGAINST chickens changed. I know about the MRTFA, but for those of us who just want a few pet hens and not go "commercial", this would be for people like that.

The Yahoo group is called ShelbyTownship_BackYardChickens. Anybody from here who's interested, come on over and let's get moving on this. From all I've read here, it could take awhile.

Thanks,
Sandy

I will also post a couple other places. I hope that's alright. Don't want anybody to miss this if they are interested.

He's a Border Collie. Like I said, he has a crate. I can't imagine using it to prevent him from playing though. He goes in to sleep and when I -- or someone else -- can't supervise. Otherwise he's allowed to explore. Confidence will be important when he has to move 500 lb hogs. So I'll give him every possible opportunity to build it now, when building it is easy. If that means redirecting him every thirty seconds, I guess I'll do a whole lot of redirecting.

I knew what I was getting into when I picked the most precocious puppy in a litter of high-energy, high-intelligence dogs. I just thought some BYCers would find the antics amusing.

Olive,

Good luck with the puppy, i think high energy is an understatement for the border collie. My uncle breeds/trains them in KS, amazing dogs to watch work, if you ever need a mate for your little guy let me know. I have seen them work almost everything but never hogs, please post a video later.

Look behind you I think he is chewing on a shoe right now.

Scott
