cold hands here- I just brought in my eggs. My serama is broody- and she pecked at my cold hands as I was gathering- you know how that hurts. even from a serama.

Of course I have no eggs for her to sit on. She is on one of my Polish's eggs. Guarding it with all she's got.

I put the hen out with the rest. I need to bandage/suture her wound-

I need to do something, so I decided to just do nothing. Is that terrible?
She is one who I was going to take to my brother-in-laws. She hates me, runs from me, and is LOUD...and the one that constantly finds a way to escape from the pen. Well, her feathers cover the wounded area, which is quite large, so you cant really see it by looking at her. I fed her, gave her water, cleaned the wound a little- but the closer I am to her, the more she stresses.
She is keeping her wounded side away from the others. Acting like nothing is wrong...need an inconspicuous smilie. I am just going to keep an eye on her- and if she starts to do worse, or gets picked on- I will put her down.

M2A-ewww, I hate a hangover yuck, good job not smoking, that is a hard one to get through

I now have 5 babies out and 3 more zipped.

The kids are loving it! Way better than Sat. morning cartoons!

thanks! YAY! I love hatching babies! I have 11 that hatched last week and 9 that hatched on Wednesday. Babies are so much fun-

I have eggs coming. I bought um.. lol..let me think. I cant remember. phooey. Wait- its coming to me...something with the word 'quail' in it but they arent quail. little chickens for my broody serama to hatch.

Also, I ordered marans eggs from someone here. AND A big ole mess of eggs from someone here during a spontaneous moment when my biological chicken clock was clucking loudly, and I didnt have any supervision- sitting alone at the computer with my credit card.

edit- I made it through the CRS muck in my brain- the chicken eggs I have coming are called : Belgian Quail D'Anver's.

Seriously- I saw an info-mercial on teevee one morning at 3 a.m. they were talking about something that would prevent Alzheimers' and I remember saying. "Oh, I can do that."
But, I cant remember what it was they were talking about.

Morning All.

My brain is in slow mo today-----no excuse like tippling the bubbly too much, I think it's just getting older and being tired.

I love reading all the posts----good luck on the pips and chicks, hope the hen heals, glad to hear Lacey and Ava are doing better, Opa---I loved your wisdom about another day. That one should be stitched on a sampler. Waving hello, also, to our out of state pals that lurk about. Us mitten dwellers are a fun bunch.

Morning all! Been a busy place around here. I moved my call ducks outside yesterday to make room in my coop for the new nest box from Opa. Gotta move chicks around today. I've got 3 brooders in my office, and lots more chicks to hatch all next week. Plus, 2 brooders in my garage with chicks! I've lost my mind...this illness is serious.

Congrats Crystal and Cindy on the new peeps!
