Morning all! I haven't had time to read all of the posts... I just hope everyone's weekend is off to a fabulous start!

By now my DS is on his way to Chicago to the airport.... by 3:30 he'll be on his way to Alaska!

DD is at the Science Olympiad... nothing I can watch

Gotta go back at 3 to see if she gets any medals

Checked on the bator today and I had 2 fluffy butts!

One is a RIR/Ameraucana.... Hopefully it's a girl! Maybe it'll be a nice green egger

And the other .... momma was a sexlink mutt and daddy had feathered feet!

Sooo.... daddy could be black Silkie, white Silkie, red Cochin or lav. d'Uccle. I've only really ever seen the Cochin mate with her out of that bunch. Baby is black, light skin, black feet and beak, single comb, no extra toe.... can't tell yet if it's bearded.

Also... need some help figuring out this duck.....

They had this one with the Pekins and Rouens ..... they also sell Runners. I'm guessing it must be a mix.

I could be wrong on this..... but I have heard there are no GIANT Cochins... only LF. Don;t know if it's true or not.... but I would research it as you might be overlooking plenty of nice LF Cochins just to end up with something in the LF range anyhow

I know there is a BYCer here that has blue ones... but she's in FL. She does sell hatching eggs though... and the pics I have seen look really nice! Great foot feathering etc. She sells on ebay too I've seen.

I know what you mean same here. My cochin roo Elvis doesnt even crow, not one peep. Usualy Cochins are realitivly easy to sex since the roo's comb get red quick and the hens stay pinkish until they are getting ready to lay then they turn red. I would say 5-6 weeks possibly from what I recall with my roo.

I set up the 'bator last night and have it up to 86 already this morning. Once I get it set I've got more than enough guinea eggs for it. It'll all be timed nicely for hatching after I get back from Florida (got DH monitoring it while I'm gone). Then I'll try for chicken eggs.

And in May I'll get my chicks from the feed store.

Wonder when I'll get any muscovy eggs to try?

BTW, weather up here just south of Alpena is sunny and 39f!
