This is the snake I caught last weekend. I overcame my healthy respect for snakes and caught her to show my son after he woke up from his nap. She was hiding next to the firepit in the extremely long grass (Like Jurassic Park "stay out of the tall grass" bad. Okay not that bad... but long!

) I was moving the firewood so BF could cut the lawn... Scared the jeepers out of me!

Then I realized what it was and decided to catch her. My son had never seen one upclose so it was neat to see his reaction... Which was surprisingly calm. I expect many snake deliveries in my future

Then we let her go in the woods. ( I say her and she but it could very well have been a he and him)

Speaking of them... Hawk (Jace named her) Put herself back in the big coop tonight.

We have a Hawk that Kaia named, too, lol. It has occasionally made things very confusing.

I build my own hive bodies and supers, but I buy the frames and foundation. These nucs weren't supposed to be here until next week so I have some hurry-up wood working to do.

How much were your bees, round about? (Since you didn't answer me last time.

) Aaaannnddd, how much does it cost you to build the hives? Annnndddd... How much would it cost with labour included? Cause... you totally want to build more, right?

Nova - we leave June 22nd. Hopefully we will have wifi and I can check in. It's really fun to see everyones chickens and projects. I have been wondering about BR737DVR. He had just received his chicks last time we heard from him........

I'm not Raz but my nucs were $135 each and my hives were $165 assembled (you can get them from the same guy for $122 unassembled). That's for 5 medium supers, I think the 2 deeps and 2 mediums are slightly cheaper.

Sorry, I must have missed your first post about cost.

The nucs I got today were 5-frames and cost me $110 each. That's about $30 higher than I like to pay, but I missed the early window to order them.

Hive bodies are expensive. Two of the deep 10 frame bodies with a base and top run around $200. That's why I build my own, but considering the cost of materials and labour, that's about a break even point.

What kind of bees did you get, anyway?
