I am so very tired. I can't wait to go to bed, I don't even have the drive to drink a glass of wine. Tomorrow is grocery day and planting 12 cotoneaster bushes!

Can someone please clue in the obviously sheltered girl about why people would steal roosters? PM me or something? I feel like it's something sinister but nothing I google gives me any info other than apparently some rooster that beat up an old lady and is now on lock down for 10 days.

Beautiful day today. I have a birthday today, I'm really 39. DH left me money taped to the bathroom mirror this morning. Not sure what to use it on. I don't mind the age so much, it's just every one I think of all the time I've wasted in the last year. Trying to savor the moments but not all that good at it. My son has a ball game tonight I have to get ready for, try and go and relax and enjoy! It looks like a great afternoon/evening.
Happy Birthday!!! Nice job on your coop too.

Nice work. Tap. (Looks like EMAW found that missing "r")

Question: How old do chicks have to be before they can stay outside all night? Mine are 6 weeks and want to be outside is it ok. Im so nervous to let them.
I put my first round of chicks outside at 5 weeks with a heat lamp and they have been fine. With the younger chicks I put them out last weekend and they were only 2 and 3 weeks old. They also have a heat lamp and have been just fine.

NEW UPDATED PICTURES OF SILLYCHICKENS UGGOS>......

I DID IT!!! I created a TWO HEADED UGGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL, that's how it is down in Burr Oak.

Well, 4 of the 5 of Skeeters eggs have hatched successfully. Only 3 are left. AGAIN, on of the big girls got in there with her to lay an egg, and I think she snatched on of the fresh hatched chicks that hadn't dried and fluffed. I was late getting Skeeter separated. I don't separate her space until she's with in hatch date. But THREE DAYS EARLY except one. It is tapping inside its shell, so I guess soon. SO, I feel bad, and Skeeter was royally P.O.ed. Again she was attack mama, and while I was digging around under her trying to find the missing chick, all I found was the still wet shell and membrane, and no chick, she left chicken hickies all over my hands and arms. I was so mad I wanted to knock the hell out of the girls, but it was my fault.... WELL ANYWAY! She has 2 little blackies and 1 puffy cheeked yellow. The eaten one was a dotte mix. The other 2 are her bio chicks. The last unhatched one is another dotte mix, and the yellow puffy cheeks is a dotte mix. No faverolles under her. SO, just one fav under Skatter.

NOW, I will go back and finish reading the posts...
That's sad about the chick that didn't make it.

There were several posts within the past month or two that mentioned an organic farm that grew and ground their own chichen feed for sale. I dont know who posted or where the place is. I'm thinking it was near Bridgman or something like that. Thought I'd put the link in my favorites list but can't find it. couldn't find it usung search in BYC or scrolling lots of posts. Anyone have info. I perciate it and thanks.
I bought feed from here.

He is in the Ypsi/ A2 area, but gets the feed from a farm in the thumb. If you like, I can get some from him and bring with me to Chickenstock. Just PM me if you are interested.

It does not matter how many nest boxes you have does it???? This was what was happening in my coop today. There are three chickens in the bottom pic!

I stressed so much about how many boxes to have with 11 chickens in the big coop and finally settled on 3 but wondered if we should have done 6...clearly 3 will be enough. lol

Laura-

The bottom chicken is just trying to maintain her space, fair and square...if she has to be squished, then so be it...lol..

Mine do that too..Of course, they are mostly all white- so i can never tell how many are in there..

VJ, don't stress about the boxes.
For 6 laying hens, I have 5 boxes. They seem to like the 2 high boxes and lay in the same box even when the one next to it is open. Rarely have they used the 2 on the floor or the one in the middle.

The young chicks like to roost in the high boxes at night but they aim their butts out and don't poop in the nest.
