You are just trying to hone in on my Cadbury egg, aren't you?

If some of those porcelain d'uccle's hatch I would be more than happy to buy some from you.
I will keep a couple aside for you, Robin along with your blue..I think she is part roadrunner- did you see her picture? If she gets out at Chickenstock, she will end up in Ohio before we catch her.

Mom2... If my hatch goes bad will you share some of your uggos with me?

But then my other fear is they will ALL hatch!!! And I will have to find some homes!

Who posted the beautiful spotted chickens... I LOVE those!
Those are beautiful. I'd like some too

Those eggs are on ebay..someone should get them and hatch them out...*hint*...

Probably going to head south around 4am so ya'll will have to fix your own coffee. Notice how I slipped that ya'll in there? I'm just practicing so that when I get south tomorrow night the people there won't realize I'm not one of the folks.

I hope I can get access to a computer a few times while I'm gone. If not trying to catch up on a weeks worth of posts might make my brain explode.

Ya'll be good in my absence.
Be safe, Sam and have a great trip..I hope you have computer access as well- because if not, it will take you until Chickenstock to get caught up.

Nobody commented on my mille d'uccles...leaving me to wonder if they are all roos or if I got lucky..shhh dont tell them, they will change sex.

I just ordered five yards of dirt to be delivered today while I am at work.
I didnt tell my husband.

I think he will figure it out when he gets home...and the driveway is blocked.

cute chicks, Kimmie!
Im impressed- how do you keep the shavings out of your feeder? Mine always kick their shavings in there, and I end up dumping it all out.

Question: How old do chicks have to be before they can stay outside all night? Mine are 6 weeks and want to be outside is it ok. Im so nervous to let them.

I was nervous, too. Mine are about 6-7 weeks. They've been fine. Even through the thunderstorm and the near freezing temps we had this week. They huddle up a bit but I'm not sure if that's because they're scared or cold. But everyone's doing well and really coming to enjoy the great outdoors.

Mom2 has the 12 days of hatching going on over there
12 uggos runnin'
11 eggs a hatchin'
10 eggs a zippin'
9 porcelian d'uccle eggs
8 banty frizzled polish eggs
7 broody hens
6 Silly's uggos
5 notmeaties
4 mille fluer duccles
3 mama hens
2 silkies
1 RBrahmer blue pullet!!!
Everybody sing it with me

Still have lots to do, but I'm done for the day. Well maybe I'll clean up the duck brooder. I think they need to go out to the big coop this weekend.

Looks like you've done a lot! It all looks fantastic!

Is this what they call chicken math? Is it, like.. math done by chickens?

Seriously! My feeder always just looked like an extension of the bedding even after I put it up on boards. Can't figure out what they're doing in there. Course I never did figure out how there was a perfect curl of chicken poop on the wall next to the brooder. To clarify - on the wall six inches from the brooder and 4 inches ABOVE THE TOP OF THE BROODER. How the...???

Opa, have a safe trip!

taprock - Level boards, even angles and straight lines are overrated. Love your coop, looks great!

FINALLY the ducks (and lesser so, the geese) have stopped running away. Not sure if it's because I carry cups of grain out more often (probably) or because they're curious about the chickens in the coop (possibly) or I'm outside more. They are spending more time exploring the backyard and the woods instead of wandering over to the neighbors. Hopefully they keep doing that, it was getting really embarrassing.

Well today certainly started out with a bit of neighborhood excitement.
One of my outside ducks was trying his wings and flew over the back fence to Patty's yard. Well she has this young boxer...

Gracie caught the duck and fetched it to the other neighbor, Johnnie. But Johnnie was on his side of the fence and when the dog released the duck, the duck took off. So the chase continued. This happened a few times until Johnnie got over to Patty's yard. Johnnie is 84 BTW. Anyhow, the duck was caught and dropped back over the fence to my side.

There is no sign of injury and the ducks are behaving normally. Hopefully it will be a lesson to them and they will remember when they migrate in the fall.

Since I was up and the bees weren't really moving about, I moved them in to the new hive body. Then Johnnie asked for some help laying sod in his yard. At 84, he can no longer do the heavy lifting that he used to do. He is such a nice old guy, I'm happy to help. I'll probably be doing more for him around the yard.

Happy Birthday Taprock!!
Great job on the coop!

Raz, hopefully the fencing will help!

Mom, the uggos are so cute! Can't wait! Any idea what sex they are yet?

Had a turkey chick hatch last night that I found outside the nest later in the evening.... stone cold. I thought it was dead, but it started moving and peeped.... so I brought it in and spent all evening holding it and using a hot pad to bring it's body temp up. Its perked up a bit, but I'm not sure it'll make it. It keeps fighting.. this morning I found it outside the box (don't know how it managed to do that)... on the floor.......cold....... I thought it was dead, but it started moving and peeped..again. Well, I figure if it's determined to keep trying I'd let it. Its in a bigger box today. DH just checked it for me. it has not really progressed passed the wobbly chick just hatched stage... I'll decide what to do with it when I get home tonight.

This weekend will be tied up with processing rabbits and the roosters. I'll save my big ol boy who is a good roo and the girls seem to like, and the younger one that is sweet(to me), and has a nice beard/short stature. The rest are going to camp!!

Opa hope you have a great trip.

Everyone else, hope you have a great weekend!
