I was doing just fine until they started hatching their own babies... I have 15 broody hatched birds... And then I bought the 4 dottes... and then I bought the yesmeaties, and ducks... OMG! I am thinking I may need to put an ad on CL and give some of the POL a cheap price tag... LOL.

The kids "helping" me shovel mulch. They don't get very much done, but they try! Plus they are occupied, happy, and in sight. As a side note, it really bothers me that I can't center pictures anymore. It is making me unhappy.

Of course, they have to take a "refreshment break" every few minutes, lol.

And for the most part, they did a whole lot of this:

Climbing, jumping sliding... man they were happy with that mulch.

They did also remove all the rocks that came up, (unscreened wood chips,) which was actually quite awesome. And yes, she lost her shorts in the process. So did the other one. They lose clothes at the drop of a hat. Actually, they drop their hats an awful lot, too.

The chickens helped, too.

Anyway, when I couldn't lift another pitchfork of wood chips, I started on painting the shed. It's not done yet, but it was getting dark and buggy. I am whipped. Again.

This is my white Silkie Roo. He was at my son's when they called me and told me he got in a fight with another roo and said he was bleeding some and what should they do ? I told them to put Blu Kote on him. Went over the next morning and this is what I saw. DIL said they didn't have any Blu Kote so she put food coloring on him. LOL

HAHAHA snort  (my phone limits my choice of smileys) I'm perpetually 30 pages behind, just couldn't resist replying to this one in the meantime.

LOL, i was curious because I was listening to Gary and Steve on wood radio in the AM, and the one was saying he couldn't wait to get home, and hoped his kid would lose the volley ball match early in the day so he wouldn't have to be there all day. HE SAID IT ON THE AIR! LOL. I am guessing his kids don't listen to Wood Radio. LOL.

So... short of showing her videos of ninjas on the History Channel, is there anything I can do to build her confidence up? She did also have an unfortunate run in with one of the biggest hens yesterday, when she happened to get between Maru and Maru's scratch... Maru grabbed her by the scruff of the neck and shook her, but she seemed to be okay, I think Maru had a mouth full of feathers, the Peep chicken is one of the fluffy Araucanas.

Thanks to anyone who actually made it through this post, LOL.
Right now I have an Ameraucana that I have named Nervous. She is really small, more bantam size and is scared of everything. I just try to intervene if I see her picked on.
Will you be selling any in the future?

I wonder how that sponge got stuffed into that 2" pipe????

I agree it's game camera time - and lots of them. You can be creative in how you hide them. Put up a lot of "birdhouses".
I bought my first pair of crocs. Very comfy. Don't like the strap that goes around the heal, or where it goes thru the shoe. Going to take a screwdriver to it, and pop the caps out.
Can't you just flip up the strap and wear without using it? I like mine to slip off and on.

Oi, starting to get wobbly, not sure if it is too much hours of hard work, too much hours of standing in the hot sun, too little water, or too much nice-refreshing-all-the-water-and-calories-I-need-for-this-kind-of-thing beers. (Probably a combination of all of the above...) I'm going to go smoke things and then get back to it. But when you almost put your pitchfork through your own foot, it is definitely time to take a break for a bit.
I was pitching leaves into the garden the other day feeling faint, weak and thinking, what sane person does this to themselves. But obviously I'm not the only one... I feel much saner knowing it's not just me!

Left home at 8 this morning for garage sale time, helping my mom with it. This evening was soccer until 9. Long day! I took some chickens to the sale with me. I ended up selling a rooster. I always wonder if they are really going to a good home, but.....I can't keep them all. I also had kids all wanting to pet my showgirl. Lots of "is that really a chicken?" comments.

Where do you live?? I'm coming to snatch this....it is so cool! I wouldn't use it for my chickens......I'd make it my private little hang out!!

Your girls are adorable too, cherish this age for they grow up too fast. My oldest turns 13 on Sunday....
