Morning Sam, you going fishing this weekend? Actually have DH thinking about it, we haven't fished in years and it's the free weekend. I suppose lots of people will be out there. May take out the canoe and just fish the local Mud Lake here in BC. We'll see, DH is notorious for suggesting something and not follow through. *sigh*

I fully intend to enjoy the day, got the majority of my veggie plants in the ground the last 2 days so I may actually get to sit back and relax a bit with some lemonade out on the deck. Then I can spend the afternoon chasing the ducks back off of it. What is it with ducks that have this huge lawn to play around in but they want to come up and sit together on my deck and poop all over it? DH thinks it's because it's the high point in the yard. I suggested we ought to build them their own higher deck then with the old deck boards he pulled up and have been sitting in the side yard for 2 years now. I think he's thinking about it.

Oh, I may have to mow the lawn today, too.
I was just thinking about when I had ducks last night and they ALWAYS pooed on my mom patio ALWAYS. It was like they never went anywhere else... I don't get it. The patio was no higher than the ground. Just a firm place to let go, I suppose...

Ummm...not really sure who told you that...but I've never heard of that before in the 20 years I've been showing/raising/breeding rabbits. Rabbits do eat thier own poop to get more out of it, but not all the time. Just if they are lacking. A good quality feed is all it takes. Half of my rabbits are on wire cages and don't have access to thier poop and definately not to other rabbits poop! Sounds like your rabbits got coccidia or bloat. (were they your pets or wild ones?)
Anyways, the best thing to do for an injured wild rabbit is to stick it somewhere "safe" and walk away. There's a bazzilion more where that one came from and if it doesn't make it then something will eat it and the circle of life will continue!

It was an escape artist morning here to start the day.

Both mallard drakes flew over the fence into Potsy's back yard so I had to go fetch them back home. One took wing and flew back over the fence but I had to net the other one. Then while getting him back, I didn't get the gate fully latched and the golden decided to venture out while my back was turned. Found her 2 doors down. She came home and the cata-healer beat up on her for leaving.

Such a nice day in in store. Three eggs already and Broil jumped in the box while I collected the bounty. I think I'll till the run and get the backyard shaped up for company this Sunday. What started as a simple chicken swap has turned into a party.
Bad dog!
Good dog!

Oh, boy! I said we could swap and go...

RaZ - I will officially NOT be coming over this weekend.

Hopefully sometime, though, you all have fun, and with any luck we'll see you people at CS.
Bummer! I wanted to meet you... I guess I will have to wait till next years CS.

Mom2 - Would bringing your plants to CS be a problem for you? Are you going to have enough room with all the uggos you'll be bringing back?
lau.gif

Oh, she will have plenty of room for plants... she is unloading the uggos on me
lol.png
I have an enhanced duo headed my way this weekend!!!

Hello Everyone. It looks like I might have a broody hen that needs some fertile eggs. Anyone in Macomb, Lappear or St. Clair country have fertile eggs? I only need 6 eggs.

Thanks!
LoveMyChicklets is in lapeer. She has an add on here for fertile eggs... she is super nice!!! I got a batch from her. Power went out on my hatch though...

Was it something I said...

Mom2 wants me to bring my truck and trailer to haul back all the stuff she will be picking up at CS. I think she needs a 40 foot Ryder...

Aw, that would make a nice duck house for my imaginary ducks I keep hoping my husband will give the OK on. lol (Actually, in regards to ducks, he has said "Do what you want, as long as I have nothing to do with them" - but I'm *trying* to respect the fact that he really isn't thrilled with the idea. Trying... lol.
Just so you know - I'm not staying. lol. I have to help my mom make Strawberry Jam on Sunday (she's in Livonia), so I'll just swing out for a quick visit around 2:30/3 - or whenever everyone expects to be there... (Can you PM me your address?)
Your mom lives close to me then!
I have an orange/yellow (with a few red dots) doitsu KOI fish that needs a home, his scale lines means hes a "Kagami-goi (mirror carp),." About 18" All the special names and he's probably just an orange mutt of a fish! LOL! Will eat from your hand!
Sounds neat! Wish i had a setup for him!

You have to have another rabbits morning poo for them to eat
roll.png
Rabbits are made funny that way. Their guts are built backwards so they have to eat everything twice to get the nutrients. They need another rabbits poo to eat to establish good bacteria in their guts... Good luck!! Mine always get diarrhea and die

Actually, you can keep a single rabbit - I have several in separate cages and they have been doing well for years.

From Wikipedia

The unique musculature of the cecum allows the intestinal tract of the rabbit to separate fibrous material from more digestible material; the fibrous material is passed as feces, while the more nutritious material is encased in a mucous lining as a cecotrope. Cecotropes, sometimes called "night feces", are high in minerals, vitamins and proteins that are necessary to the rabbit's health. Rabbits eat these to meet their nutritional requirements; the mucous coating allows the nutrients to pass through the acidic stomach for digestion in the intestines. This process allows rabbits to extract the necessary nutrients from their food.

(I think Wikipedia was addressing "wild" rabbits)

I had read that to keep a wild cottontail baby alive it needed cecotrope to live. I did post a website that says almost exactly what you quoted.
An adult rabbit still eats its own feces.
I was just trying to give advice to Shamrock on her baby cottontail that cats brought home...

Check your PM.
You and yours can visit as long as you like. I have lots of chores that need doing.

Also have a (I think) featherfin squeaker, cat fish. He's about 6" so would have to be in an aquarium with larger fish (they will eat what ever fits in their mouths)! He lives with the KOI, but could not be wintered outside.

You know how goldens are...they will go anywhere and make new friends where ever they go. I have several stories about GRs.

Swap and go if you like, but I thought that we would end up BSing for a while. Fire up the grill and have a few ginger ales. Divide some perennials...

I will be bringing hamburgers!
I, also, have a proposition for you... Will let you know after my chick pick up...
I will be bringing plants for M2 are you interested in ferns, daylilies, seedum?, and/ or moss???

I need a lawn cart. Yup. Just so my kids can go for a dang ride. LOL.

Got my lawn mowed in back. Was a trip because I have so many things in the backyard to go around, and I didn't know what was hiding in the grass. That being said, I found a broom and a car emergency shovel. Oh happy joy. AND I also found part of my hammock.

I went ahead and mowed the neighbors lawn too. They''ve been working 10-12 hours shifts at their jobs, so figured what they hell. Didn't take long. Put the mower oh high and went to town. Got both lawns mowed in under an hour. Got the new pool set up, and its filling. I turned the hose on low so the hot water heater can kinda sorta keep up. Got the plants watered, and now I just need to go and buy a bag of feed. WHY OH WHY didn't i remember it yesterday. Everyone is eating meat bird feed today. LOL.

It is still to dang quiet.
