"Uggos are born knowing that if you plan on eating them or rehoming them, that they should NOT crow until the latest possible time. AND then, to do so only in a group. "

I think people are forgetting your birds can be very healthy and carry something that another bird (very healthy) can be affected by. there are a## of things out there that can affect our birds. A wise man once said keep separate for 1 week then but one of your birds in with them if if your bird dies don't mix with the others, if the other bird dies, don't mix with the others if all birds live your good to go. and of course stress can bring things out that may otherwise never be a problem .
Jerry does indeed have beautiful birds, they also keep the dark brown collor, mine have been laying for a yr now and still are a dark brown.
NOVA, this is not fair. she has been through enough!!!... keeping her in our prayers

momma hen and Therons baby's are doing very well, she is just as proud as can be with her baby's. It was so cute to watch them rubbing up against her , attached so quickly you would think she had hatched them
Snowflake thats very good advice. Thank you for sharing I will remember that. I think it was the heat

Kimme, was there any other thing besides the bloody stool? Was it getting picked on?
Also, did any other people handle her before you bought her or after? Sometimes things can be carried on clothing or hands.

Do you have her on woodchips? I wonder if she ate something that cut her inside or plugged her, someone here had that happen this spring with a few chicks reared on woodchips..........? Also a newbie low on the pecking order can fill herself on unusual things, if she feels too scared to compete for the food dish. I had a hen fill up on calcium grit before i caught her, was touch and go to keep her alive.

Can't beat lightly damp sand baths for heat, even the week-olds will use them to cool off.

Yay for #30! :) (catching him, that is)

Yes she was picked on through the dog cage I had her in with 4 other chicks. The older chicks 8 weeks old would try and peck them through the cage. I looked at her but didn't see and wounds. I don't know if anyone else picked her up. Yes woodchips, pine.

Thanks for the advice

Mr. Jersey is beautiful and the other one, I have no clue. It's pretty though. I would watch that pen Mr. Jersey is in though. I see at the bottom it is open enough for a raccoon to get in.
Mr. Jersey went home to his new pen. I had to keep him while my son went to his sisters for a few days.

Something awful happened today I was going around the coop and saw that some had dug a hole never where my dog is buried while you guessed it a dog or something tried to dig him up. He died in January. While that was awful I saw the blanket my hubby put over him.
