This is one of 5 week old Ameraucana chicks. Father is a lavender Ameraucana, mom is a mix color Ameraucana with no muffs. So in other words an EE bantam

That's a mighty pretty good looking pantry....at least it was when it was full! You were a busy beaver, weren't you.
I'm still waiting for the snow to melt....it's not going too fast.

Hi Vikki - yes, that's me that's looking for buff orps! So I can actually purchase fertilized eggs and give them to one of girls that is acting broody? I have MANY gals that do the squatting dance - indicating that they'd like to be bred, correct? So I could get these gals to hatch these eggs, correct? Thanks and look forward to input! Nancy

I had a quick question. I have several (11 layers) and am only getting about 3-6 eggs per day. I have a mix of banty and full size chickens but... only 2 banty roosters. Would getting a full size rooster increase my egg production with my would be 6 full size egg layers?

Well, in order for them to hatch the eggs, they would need to go broody, which would mean sitting on the nest on some eggs and refusing to leave the nest. Sometimes they don't even have eggs and still won't leave the nest, the instinct is so strong. That is a broody hen! Your hens are showing the showing they are submissive to you and/or ready to be bred. They don't have to be, but if you want, a rooster would take care of that for you.

I don't have any buff orps, but I do have extra roosters! I can set you up with a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte rooster!

Vikki, some of the gals sit on the eggs until we take them away - think i'd have a chance? I live in the city and have neighbors who wouldn't take to having a rooster crowing otherwise I'd take him in a minute! There are buff orps on ebay that I could order....appreciate your input! Nancy
