so sorryI did have a conversation with Juise. She's well. Been too busy with summer things and other activities that require her attention. She does get on, but just a quick catch. She'll be around when things settle back down.
Belle looks like she's going to be my next casualty. I noticed her off last night, but no pasty butt, no swollen eyes, breathing sounded fine. I figured maybe egg bound. I found her this morning, off the roost, under a table. I think she fell off and broke herself. They roost on a cabinet that's about 6 feet tall. So upsetting...
Beautiful eggs. Glad to see you, my Daughters have been through this to, one's DH knew people , let the house go into forclosure then was able to get the lower interest deal that was being offered back then the other has been fighting for yrs. I think it matters greatly which bank you are with Hope things work out well for you, these are not good timesHello to everyone, I miss having the time to read and chat with you guys. Things are still insane here, still waiting to see how everything will come out. Top of the list is whether we will have our mortgage adjustment approved, or we will be foreclosed on. I realize these things take time, but uuuggghhhh. Waiting sucks. Sure makes it hard to keep putting work into this house and property in the meantime.
Anyway, I'm almost 1000 posts behind, so there is no way I can catch up, I just read the last page. Nova, if you decide to go with Ivermectin, I just bought a bottle a few weeks ago and could give you some. It would take all eternity to use up on our little flock.
Hope everyone is well. We did get our first blue egg, the girls were ballistically excited.
She's dead. A rusty butter knife once used by Columbus himself will work if it's what you've got.![]()
Dawg has good advice and is very helpful,, chicken grandma is right though the vets at MSU said Ivermec is good for all so ti should work... I have used both but I think the Iver-on is easiest as there is no egg toss. if you are only treating a few next time try putting on a piece of bread, they gobble it up before they no something is on it. putting it on them after they go to roost works well also. Iveer-on you can put on neck or internally. Mine do not drink the water when I put it in the water though. you may need to treat for Cocci also. I have never had a bloody stool but have had vets tell me my birds have Cocci. From the article fuzzy posted most bird do have itSpeaking of worming, I spent several hours yesterday catching and orally dosing my chickens with 1/2 ml Ivomec. I lost a hen Monday night to what I believe was worms. She had been having watery diarrhea and then laid two shelless eggs. I finally caught her Monday night 036/necropsy-results-is-not-coryza-or-crd-parasites-are-rampant/80. So, in 10 days I will retreat with Valbazen and hope I get them cleaned out. Anyway, I was also burning two huge piles of brush from the oak tree that finally fell into my pond. Instead of burying the hen I threw her on the fire and cremated her. A half hour later my neighbor calls to tell me that my chicken on the grill is killing her! I did smell good.![]()
