as long as that tiny gap at the roof peak is sealed, and the window/door latches can't be easily turned by hand; coons have 5 fingers too! they will open latches. Looks cute :)
There's a gap at the peak and at the bottom, too. It's got the hardware cloth - very well secured - for ventilation. I think we'll probably make some hinged boards to close it up on the super cold nights. Maybe? The window/door has a latch and lock. The windows (that you can't see here) are screened with the hardware cloth, too.

Louvers and awnings! Fancy! ;) We'll rarely see that side of the coop, so we'll probably keep that one simple.

Thanks for the feedback! Because we live in the city, we're illegally keeping 3 chickens. We knew we'd like our new feathered pals, but didn't expect to get so attached. We want to keep our ladies safe.

Not sure if anyone has posted this on here yet or not, but there is a gathering coming up in N. Michigan. I started a thread on it. Northern Michigan 1st Annual Poultry Fest. Check it out.

Today I had a standing room only crowd avidly watching me pick my veggies from the garden and they just had a ball when I threw a few of the not-so-great ones over the fence. Needless to say, those veggies disappeared quickly and I found a new way of easily entertaining myself.

Silly chickens.

Thank you Nova. Yep she had a good life. . Her sidekick is lost. Bottom of the pecking order with no buddy to forage or sleep with now.

me too....

I do believe Mr. Fluffers was more injured than I thought. Today he is stumbling, walking very heavy, not wanting to come out of the coop, I took him out, poultry drenched him, set him by the feed and water. I found blood under his roost spot today also. What do I need to do? He has not been very active since the juvie attack, but I figured that was from the fight, bruised up. Think it could have been worse even though I did not find anything else besides the injured wing? Should I treat for cocci because of the blood? He is 3.5 yrs old...

It's official, my Uggo is no longer broody. She even laid an egg for me. The egg could have waited until she put some weight back on but it's all good. I'm just glad she is back out in the run with the others.

Wow did I feel silly this morning!

I was sitting at the computer reading messages and drinking coffee when I heard a noise. BF was out getting the mail and when he came in I told him the turkeys were making a different noise a minute ago. As I was telling him this we heard it again. He laughed and said that's not the turkeys it's the geese in the barn!! LOL

Today is decision day. Time to figure out which ducks are going to BF's uncle tomorrow and which chickens I'm putting up for free because they are old. I can't wait to have more room around here!
