hahaha doubt it. My son HATES chickens and his girlfriend is umm...an only child in a family with a lot of money. Everything has to be perfect and clean. Any dirt and she whines..worse than a 5 year old!! I have no idea how those two put up with each other since my son is the total opposite..or how she'll deal with having a child lol

Happy Friday!

I have some white (hatchery) silkies, I think most are roos.. but I will give them to anyone on here that wants them... I have 4, maybe 5 to get rid of.  Just a bit over crowded at the moment.   PM me if you're interested.  I'll try to get some picts to post.  I'll be putting an add on craigs list if no one shows any interest here.

I've got two young Silkie roos that are very sweet. I love them to pieces and will keep them if they get along with each other and the younger (but huge) Light Sussex roo when he matures (any day now). If they don't get along, you and I can put together an irresistable Silkie Roo Extravaganza Package! Free! Free! Free! For a limited time only! (not really.) Operators are standing by!

I just had to share a few pics I received of my 4.5 month old grandson, Carson!

Oh, he is a keeper!

I and one of the lads I lived with finally got fed up when a blizzard rolled through. Instead of shoveling the snow off to the side, we shoveled it into the other parking area.
LOVE IT! I would have done it too!
BYE-BYE MR. FLUFFERS! Best Rooster Ever!
Sorry Nova. You worked really hard to make him better!

Does anyone else do ear candles?
I had to do my left ear today... it feels much better!
Wanna see what I got out of it?

Now, I don't know how much is acctually ear wax, but usually there is a lot of powder residue from the muslin burning... there was NONE this time!
I have to figure out an experiment to recreate the ear canal and "wax" that the candle could pull out.
BF swears that it is just melted/burnt wax from the ear candle.
All I know is I feel better and my ear drains better after using one.

If you have enough room, and enough hens, and enough constant resources for all cockerels/roosters and their chosen lady friends, you shouldn't have to much fighting. I had 2 full grown roosters in one coop, and 3 cockerels in that coop. No fighting really. They will establish their pecking order, but if you have enough space, real space, not the 10sq per bird run space, you probably will be just fine. You need enough girls though. I had 9 boys to 16 girls, and it was hell in my yard when 7 of those boys hit maturity. Mr. F and Roger were constantly defending their girls, the younguns were constantly terrorizing the girls. Peace returned to the yard after 6 of those boys went to the camp outfitters and made their way to Camp Fridgidaire.

****NOTE**** This is my experience right now. 3 Roosters, well 2 now, BUT 3 rooster, 16 girls... 10 now(3 to illness, 3 to mommy hood), and there is peace in the yard. I have 3 cockerels coming of age, trying to decided their fate, since they are so darn pretty! BUT they are all brothers, and 3 of my pullets are their sisters... OH DECISIONS!

My Dear Father used to have me light them up for him. He was very bad at the ear wax. My youngest boy is also, but he's to little yet to do this with. Its gross, but works so amazingly well.

It's not gross til you cut them open... Then WOW!

I don't recommened them to everyone though.
It is not worth the risk if you have sensitive ears... infections, damage...

I love the photo of sleepy Carson and his belly, Keyt. Cutie.
If people could start off at 6 months old, I might have considered a 3rd child. ;)

Nova, I'm sorry about Mr. F. He was a mighty handsome bird.

Penny moves out in 2 hours. Our poor Australorp is going to be lost w/out him.
