Wow... we have coons all over the place by me. The neighbor has live traps set up all over the place and we are constantly "doing away" with them for him. We had a coon take out 20 3-month-old gold orpingtons in one night a couple years ago. He was done away with via a shotgun... not a harpoon. I am wondering how your raccoon went as well, frizzledhen.

Hillbillyhen, in reference to your signature line about your memory I was told that your memory is one of the first things to go and I can't remember what the others were.

Welcome 19sarah90 and MrAg. I'm always delighted to discover new people on this thread. There are some awfully nice people here and more are always welcome.

Welcome to the new eggs.

Well it was a beautiful day today. My DH started his second job today. Very, very part time though driving truck for the neighbors. We got that fencing up hopefully to keep those darn rabbits out. Good night to all.

I am fairly new to the forum and chicken keeping. I have 7 isa browns and 2 buff orpintons that are 14 weeks old--I did have another isa brown and 1 black orpington full grown hen until a week ago when a coon killed the 2 of them. He got into the coop which used to be a goat house--I was thankful to only have lost 2 and not the whole lot! Anyhow, I live near Howell and Pinckney MI and thought that I would introduce myself on the MI thread.

Good morning, Everyone! I am so glad for you guys, Laura. My husband has two more weeks, for which we are thankful... he was supposed to be done today. So now we "do all and then stand" and wait to see what the Lord does next! I wish we could think of a business that all these unemployed husbands of the chicken keepers (and those who are the chicken keepers) could start up together!

I really dislike listening to the news and weather people talking about how wonderful the heat is. They drive their air conditioned car from their air conditioned house to the air conditioned job. They should try working outside for a change and then tell me 90 is wonderful. Maybe I'm just a cranky old man, but I dislike hot more than cold. With cold you can add more layers of clothing. With hot you can only remove so many clothes before someone will complain.
