The black raspberries grow wild here. Our property is covered with them. Since I was ready to make jam, I went out on some state land near our home and picked about 14 cups full. I think I will have enough of ours to make some pies (and freeze some pies for fall.)

That's so cool. I bought some red and yellow varieties this spring and man were they expensive - over $2 per plants in quantities of 50 plants.

Would you ship them to the UP and how many do ya have?

They will not make it in this weather. I could ship some in spring at the beginning of April or maybe in fall - but it will be probably too cold up north to plant them in fall.

Had the best evening doing some work in the yard with my husband and watching the chickens free ranging. I swear the big turkey hen is in love with my husband. He even gently sprayed her with the hose and she looked at him and came a little closer talking to him the whole time. It is really funny to watch.

Those would be black raspberries then. I've heard they're hard to find outside of home-gardens.

Can you bring some to chickenstock? If you are going that is. I would love to get some.

I am not going. But if anybody from Oakland/Lapeer is going I could send a few plants with them.

I'll take a pic a little later this evening when they are nestled around the BIG girls outdoor enclosure! Keep checking!

You asked for it! Pictures of 10 wk old "said orps"! They're considering moseyin up the stairs to the deck until they saw ME! Here's a pic too of kitty saying good night to some of the adult flock!

BTW, you can click on the pic and enlarge for your viewing pleasure!

I am sure they would die in the summer heat. When I had plants shipped to me it was anywhere from 15-25 dollars. it is probably not worth the trouble for you, because the shipping will be more than the plants. Look at the list who is from my area and going to the swap and i'll drop them off for you.
