Hey, Briana, can you tell me what kind of chickens yours were? Mine are four pounds already at five weeks old and I'm afraid that they'll be too big (over six and a half pounds) at eight weeks by the fair.

Thank you, Opa. I wish I could, but will not be attending. My husband for the first time in 32 years, is indefinitly laid off. We are job hunting, mostly out of state, as we are not finding much to apply for in Michigan. We are cutting out any spending but the essential for a while. We are very blessed and I have peace, trusting God for the outcome, but will not be attending.

I feel for your situation. While we have been staying busy, in years past we were always 16-18 weeks out on new jobs. Now we never seem to be more than a few days. I thanks God for our strong customer base of repeat customers. I hope you situation improves, I'll be praying for you.

I appreciate your prayers, Opa. It is a test of our faith time, for sure. For some reason, I feel kind of excited. Kind of like we are at the start of an adventure. I just have to not look too far down the road and stay in peace.

we have been working so hard today. if i missed any notes here that are to me, someone pm me or ask again please. we've been moving coops and chickens and i'm whipped. running chicken wire over fencing to keep chicks in their respective pens when not free ranging and blah blah blah. need sleep!

Good morning. The roo we kept is already top chicken. Too much so. My feeders are more than 6ft. apart and he wouldn't let anyone eat this morning. Then he attacked the sweetgrass turkey. So right now he is in th big brooder in time out. He won't back down from me either. All this change in attude in just under 24 hours.

Sounds like that rooster needs an attitude adjustment. As you approach him and he doesn't move off, or comes at you. Kick him with the side of your foot hard enough to actually lift him off the ground but not hard enough to send him through the goal posts.

The older I get the less I enjoy Michigan winters, however, it does cut down on the number of snakes we have to deal with. Let's see, shovel snow or shovel snakes? Hum, didn't take much thought to come up with the answer to that one.

I hope all of you have a great day. This cool summer is sure making the global warming thing seem like a crock.

Good morning friends! Haven't been on in awhile. Been Busy! Yesterday got some time off to go fishing - caught 2 decent salmon! Chicks are growing as fast as the weeds in the gardens! They all should be big enough to butcher by this fall. went school shopping Saturday. Boy, did the kids LOVE that:)

Quick update on my stolen checks case. Both men are now sitting in jail. One made bail awhile ago because he asked the judge to lower it so that he could support his 5 kids; he's unemployed and gets disability and veterns support. Well, this past Thursday, he stole a purse and used the ATM card to withdraw $450 from the account!! How dumb is that!?! They caught him immediately! Now who's going to support his kids?

Thanks Opa. I have done the kicking thing before. Right now he is in time out. LOL.

Sarah they were the RIR packing peanuts that came with my order from Ideal. I thought why waste them? I'll raise them and eat them.
