Let's see... no, I didn't sleep in this morning... I had to get the cornish to the fairgrounds by nine o'clock to be pullorum tested since we never did get a certificate from the hatchery.
I let them be last night and went out this morning to tag the leg of the one with the broken wing but couldn't figure out which one it had been. I'm 90% sure that it was dislocated and it popped itself back in. Enough of the pullets had dried blood on them that I couldn't distinguish that way.
One of them is a rooster, by the way, or rather... I'm almost certain that one is. I've been meaning to get pics for you guys.
I LOVE the pics of the dogs!!! I have photos of my pooches, not on my main "page" but on a "sub-page" of my "page" if that makes sense. I accidentally "added a page" instead of putting the photos on the main page.
It's been a busy day for me! Hope y'all have a great evening!
I had to run outside due to a big distubance with the chickens. They were all going nuts and hiding. I could hear one more over all the others. I ran out to their yard. There was the big tom and the big roo. The Big guy, the rooster we are keeping. Starts up again making all this bawking and squacking and jumps up and is trying to mate my big tom turkey.
The poor tom is running and flapping away from him and the rooster tries it again. The poor tom sounds like he is gonna have a heart attack
so I stepped in and shooed the rooster away. Talk about a confused rooster.
I finally finished the cherry jam tonight. I got 10 pints, 17 half pints and an aching back. I also shoveled out the meaties pen and helped DH with putting new roosts up in the other coop. We also lowered the nest boxes since one of the roosters decided he liked to sleep in there. Been a busy day today.
I agree. I would rather have things to do than have nothing to do. I picked about a gallon of green beans and 13 squash yesterday so tomorrow I will be getting those put in the freezer. We are also sending "Trouble" to freezer camp tomorrow. One thing is for certain, I can never complain of being bored.
Long day at the Fowlerville Fair today! Kids did great on their projects. Our club got 3 trophies, 2 best of shows, and 1 judges award.
One of the 5-8 years old said the funniest thing while being judged. The judge told the kid that he was creative so he could be an artist when he grew up, a chef since he baked something, or a photographer. He looked at the judge and said matter of factly... No I am going to be a lawyer then I can do whatever I want.
Loading up the animals tomorrow to transport them in. Showing starts Monday morning.
Is the fowlerville fair this week? My husband has decided he needs to have a say in what breed of chicken we get to replace the old RIR's. So we decided that Barred rock is our bird of choice. SO, if anyone knows of a few hens and a nice young rooster let me know
As soon as these guys start to bust through I'll post some pics!
