You are so right! Krisrose will have to lead me around while I have my sleep mask on. Will not be able to resist those cute little faces!

like playing Marco Polo....

'Am I getting hot yet?'

'NO! You're COLD! FROZEN!!!!'

'WAIT! OHMYGOSH Your HOT HOT HOT!'

then you'll be in all sorts of trouble when you come home with two dozen chicks, three turkeys and four ducklings.

Chickflick expects an enabler like me to lead her away from baby ducks??
Well, it might work if the turkeys I want are there

. Then I will be leading her in that direction

you may need to let them duke it out. as long as they are not killing each other, males need to fight a bit to decide who it top dog.

the other people in the truck ate them all! even the kids ate like three each! Rick had Grandma Smith's Sugar Cookies, two, for dinner! (Recipe page at my website for droolers.)

we have to make a point to arrange the pepperoni roll experience. there are still GSS Cookies in the jar though! if you can beat Hannah to them!

Frizzledhen...Cat just acts like that a lot in the morning...she's not normal you know...she has black chickenitis. (it's caused by the want of all the black chickens in the world)

I made some black raspberry and blueberry jam last week, I didn't have any pectin, and didn't feel like going back to the store, so i went searching and found a recipe in my grandpas old Slovak cook book.

Jams came out very good, i even used them in pancakes and waffles.
tongue.png

8 cups of berries
4 cups sugar, (I used 3 cups and 1/4 cup raw honey)
1 tablespoon lemon juice, (I didn't have lemon, so i used fresh lime)

Clean berries, cook on stove, place berries, sugar, lemon juice, on stove, cook for 15 to 20 minutes, or until 218-f. Pour in glass jars, keep refrigerated or freeze, make sure not to fill all the way to the top, when freezing, leave room for expansion.

The Lemon or lime juice will prevent color changing brown and preserve the fruit.
I found the longer you cook it the more thicker it gets.

When you cook the berries did it "darken" up the jam? My kids and hubby were like: "What is that?!?!?!" and didn't believe the other jam was actually blueberry because it was almost clear in color.

Good mornin' MJ!

Have a great day everyone, gotta run. Going to take the kids to horsey lessons, then off to town, then home to get ready for birthday party and out for the night with kids/parents... Whew - going to be busy day!

Hoping it doesn't rain tomorrow

I'd like to process some of my chickens, some of those buggers aren't laying so now they are dinner!

BYE!

Good morning. I slept in. How nice is that. My poor husband went in to work at 5am and worked till 8am and when he got home everyone was still sleeping. Let the chickens and turkeys out in the rain. Silly things sooo excited to go outside, then strait under the coop they go to stay out of the rain. As I was leaving the chicken yard I had them looking at me like ,"what is the big idea lady we don't like the rain." Hope everyone has a great day.

and give them a call to see what types of eggs they have - The week I picked them up they only had different breeds of bantams - are you interested in these? If so, I'd be happy to pick them up for you and deliver on Sat - You're talking about the mtg in Lansing, correct? I have a graduation party, but do want to stop over sometime during the day - I'm not far from there so could bring them to you between 10-12 - Nancy

My black raspberry jam color looks like red wine.
and the Blueberry looks dark blue purple,
mine jams came out very thick, not runny, not clear.
the lemon juice will prevent the Berry's make a brown or off color, and to keep there true color.
I'm not sure about the clear color for the blueberry jam.
The liquid part of my jam came out the color of what blueberry juice will look like.
when cooking on the stove, makes the berry juice pop out, in-tensing the true color of the berry.

I think when some make jam and they cook the jam in jars, will make that color, rather than cooking the Berry's in a pan and then placing them in the jars.

good luck.

However, he is a gentle giant, he comes up to you and automatically sits and waits for you to love on him. He is calm and respectful and listens better than my kids!!

He is a Maremma. They are from Italy and are livestock guardian dogs, much like Great Pyrenees and other LGD breeds. I just liked the breed characteristics of this breed better than the other LGD's I looked at.
