Hi! Former farm girl with my own lil "acreage" in the Detroit area. Currently building a coop in my backyard. WANT to get a fat lil faverolle, but haven't found any yet.

May be getting an EasterEgger and a Buff Orphington.

Looking for a good place to buy feed.
Detroit, Southfield or Clawson areas are all good to reduce commute.

And wondering if anyone has used a automatic dog feeder (gravity fed, not electronic) for their chickies?

I'm afraid I'm going to forget something when I get started!

I CAN make it to Troy!!! What area? How much care will the chicks need? I have to do a bit of traveling for a wedding over Labor Day. And have a vacation planned end of September. I think I have a pet sitter squared away for the vacation, but trying to decide if I should wait til just after Labor Day to get my chicks.

Zephyrcreek...Elizabeth is on patrol and says you can call all you want about chicks. three are out so far. all looking really good.

twinwillows...no pips yet for you, but still not even hatching date.

Rick should be here with the rental car any minute now. i think i have all my loose ends tied up. posted August's contest on my website. it is going to be fun, fun, fun! cannot wait to see the entries!

I have to work tomorrow so we will not be able to make it to chickenstock. Would have been nice to meet some of you folks. Opa, that smoked chicken looks wonderful. This weekend I may be smoking some of the salmon we caught in Pentwater last weekend.

If Vicki has any wellie pullets left over put me on the list for 3 or 4.
