Afternoon all. Just have to say I am a clutz (sp?). I went out to collect eggs and check on the meaties. I had my eggs in my basket and set them down outside to close the coop door. Well, it is very windy today and the wind tipped over the eggs, breaking 4 of the 5 eggs. Then when I was walking into the garage, I dropped the last egg! How silly!

Not the only one it has happened too! Don't let the 2 year old carry the egg basket up...jumping and running don't do well with eggs either!

A 5 year old plunking the eggs in the basket doesn't help either!!

Or my personal favorite, your dog climbing onto the chair, then onto the table, snatching not one, but two eggs, and not from the basket of eating eggs sitting right there, but from the bubble wrapped taped up set that were sitting in the shipping box, just waiting for the hens to lay one more that morning so they could be sent out to a buyer!!

To a chicken coop to Crystal MIL today and she sure was happy with it. Go home and discovered my oldest BLRW hen lying dead in the run. No one appears sick and she had no evidence of injury. I wasn't real sure of how old she was as I got her as an adult hen along with a splash and Victor. The former owner said she was about 10 months old when I bought her last July, but he had 400-500 birds so I don't know how he could say with any certainty how old she was. Se sure was a pretty bird and had been a dependable layer.

LOL too funny. My son in law every time they bake a chicken he put the carcass in the barn cats food bowl and "says" it keeps the chicken from eating the cat food. I about fell over laughing the first time he told me the reason the cats food dish was full of bones.

He says it does keep them out of the cat food. Dont know if I believe it or not???

Hi everyone. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. It has been a very rough week or so, and I just wish we could find out what is going on. I plan to see my doctor next week and hopefully schedule so more tests. We think that the gall bladder is either not functioning properly, or there is a problem with the 6 x 8 piece of mesh I have from a hernia surgury a few years back. Hopefully we can find out soon. I'm still very weak and tired. It's hard to be farm girl when I took in ~500 calories total in 5 days. I wanted to start a diet......but not this way.

Gotta go lay down. I'm still dealing with severe headaches after being dehydrated for so long.

Opa sorry to hear about your hen. Zephy hope you find out what is going on so you get healed up and feeling better. Oopsie I put a carcass out for the chickens they picked it clean. MJ we will head out after lunch, Art has to work in the morning. And if we eat before we leave I won't have kids bugging me to go out to lunch.
