Vicki, when we got home from Holly[ren fest] on Sat. night she was not walking. Just lying there on her side. I immediately seperated her and tried to give her some vitamin electrolyte water. She did drink some. I am keeping her in her own little place and frequently checking on her, giving water etc. She is still not walking but somehow is getting to the food as I am refilling her little dish. Her legs seem stiff and she is not supporting her weight. This seemed to come on suddenly as FIL checked on them at 5 pm Sat. and they were fine. When he checked on them again at 8 he noticed that the one did not look well. We got home at 10. I just keep hoping and praying.

I have never lost a baby, even back when the boys were raising chickens for 4-H.

Just to give ya'll an idea of how many hummingbirds we have, while we were gone Friday and Saturday, 30 hours, the hummers went thru a gallon and a half of feed. Mind that part of this time was at night when they don't come to the feeders. My FIL said he was glad we were home because he was tired of filling feeders. We are almost out of sugar.

Hillbillyhen, try holding a feeder in your hand and see if they will land on you. I did it last year it was way cool. They ate from the feeder I was holding and one rested on my hand. My husband was sitting there trying to get a picture of it.

I will try that!
Briana, have you gotten any double yolkers yet? I know how excited you are about getting your first eggs, We have gotten about 3 or 4 double yolkers and a very tiny egg. I am still waiting to get the first easter egg.

Good morning all! Trying to wake up this morning.
Hillbillyhen, no double yolkers. But I am getting 3 eggs a day now. They are getting a little bigger each day too. I love going out to check for eggs.

Hi everyone, I've been a "lurker" for awhile now, and I'm really impressed with the camaraderie on this board!

I have 16 Ameraucana eggs in my 'bator, on day 19, and am so excited to hear peeping and have one pip (especially after my 100% failure in July). I know I'm being a worry wart, but if for some reason only one chick would hatch --- does anybody have any babies right now? I don't care what breed. Thanks!

I hope you can look into some of the great technical programs at a community college. They are affordable. I think that workforce re-training is what we need to put Michigan back on top.
My best wishes to you and your family!

I am going in this morning to speak with a lady about NWLB I am praying that they tell me good news. I am wanting to get my degree in Heating Ventalation and Air Conditioning. One I enjoy the work and people, two I think that people are charged to much for what is done in there home it is hard times and everyone should get a break. I have a plan that will help me and others.

Thank you all again for your prayers and the information that you all give keep up the work.

Opa was correct you dont have to go outside to find good people there all here on BYC..

Good morning all.

Princess Oscar seems better. No bloody stool yesterday, just a small amount today that I could see. She seems perkier too. The yogurt seems to be helping alot, and all the chickens love it!!!!!!!

Looks to be a hot one today, but I want to make homemade bread today.
I better get it in the oven before it gets too hot!!!!

Good Morning!!!!

Welcomesuzpyoung! My daughter has eggs in the bator, due to hatch Friday. They are bantams. Let me know if you are in need of any chicks.

Rachel's pullet passed away yesterday. Lowest chicken on the pecking order and just lost its fight to live. Rachel is bummed.

Last night I went corn picking at my sister in laws dad's place. Probably 50 rows of sweet corn ready and not enough family to use it all. So I took a friend in need and we picked 8 rows of corn. My dad got a bushel and a grocery sack full. We divided up the rest between us. So now I am procrastinating on husking corn. I am waiting for the stove repair guy this morning too, so I cannot start phase two til after he is done.

Have a great day everyone! Oh and grass is already tracked in the house, I mowed 1/2 of the lawn yesterday too. The cleaning bug has left.....
