Did corn last week about that many. Canned fresh Beets on Saturday 15 qts more to go.

Looking for someone that has bushels of tomatoes for spagetti sauce, salsa, and chili sauce for venison chili.

Since my wife just got laid off last week and I have been laid off for a yr. Thanks to are parents teaching us the difference of living in your means and outside of them.

Hillbilly,

I have 23 tomato plants that will all come in about the same time here in a week or less. I am not canning this year so if you wanna drive out I can tell you when they are ready and you can take what you like. Its just me here now, as husband passed away a year ago January so I dont know why I put so many plants in LOL.

Daughter doesnt can either...so instead of putting them out at the road, you can have them if you wish?

Thank you!

I thank god everyday that he gave us smarts to look ahead and pay off alot of things. My wife was pushing me to go to school then her news came. Thank goodness hunting season is just around the corner.

Plus I have eggs, eggs, and more eggs......lol There girls keep you sane.

I am very thankful for what I have and dont complain it just makes you stronger to help other people when you get back on your feet and you can help be a teacher.

Oh goody-----I am glad o-daisy has tomatoes for you hb rooster!!! I will either be canning or freezing tomatoes myself this year, and my hubby has a block permit from the DNR, so he has been hunting, just hasn't gotten anything yet. Hoping he'll get one now, then more during the regular hunt season. I am also glad you have lots of eggs----they are a great food to have in abundance. Tough times are never fun----we are in our own trial too. I totally agree that it can be a hidden blessing to teach ourselves and our children how to make the best of things and how to best use what blessings we have at the time.

Princess Oscar the pullet is still hanging in there. We are keeping up the prayers over her too.

Good Morning Everyone!

I got the cleaning bug this morning! Cleaned out the fridge/freezer in the kitchen, and the stove top. Need to do the microwave still...

Rachel brought a chicken in the rec room/garage. It is the same one she has been doctoring along, and the one that disappeared and showed up 2 days later.

Off to continue my cleaning streak!

MJ--I will wait patiently until you call and tell me it's "B-Day" (butcher day). I am curious and cannot wait to come over and see how it's done. I would also imagine that butchering would be so much more fun at your house. Pluck a few feathers, laugh a bit, eat some baked goods..........life is good, well, except for the troops headed to freezer camp.

Blueberrylu...i surely will girl...i would love to host a butchering party also. bring your bird or buy a ready to butcher bird, whatev.
it's not hard to do, you have to just dive in and develop YOUR technique i think.

...i so wont. i got way too heated up doing chores earlier. came in and am drinking lots of water and sitting still. i agree, things can wait. the laundry is running and i can take it out to the line in a minute. double dip kind of chores. i love the Rule of Ten. i swear by it.
will it matter in ten minutes, ten hours, ten years.

MJ you are so funny. You went on about a messy house and Art said your house was not messy. Are you a neat freak? You should come to my house on a Thursday about 4pm. Wooo..Hooo.. looks like a tornado went through. I am babysitting a couple out of school neighbor kids and it gets a little crazy some days.

I hope you can look into some of the great technical programs at a community college. They are affordable. I think that workforce re-training is what we need to put Michigan back on top.
My best wishes to you and your family!
