My pop door is open during the day. The hens choose not to go outside even when I shovel the run. I don't bother opening it if there is a blizzard. I throw scratch in their shavings to give them something to do.

Isa, I am glad you enjoyed yourself.
I also enjoyed myself, Isa is a very nice person. It is great to meet people in person that we meet on BYC. Funny also to find out that Isa knows my two younger sons and my daughter in laws mother. It's a small world.
While Isa was visiting we noticed that one of my hens was going under the shed. Well after she left I found 3 eggs under there. The stinkers

I was able to block it off so maybe they won't hide their eggs anymore.

I don't even want to think about winter. I have told DH to remind me in the winter how much I like my chickens.

My youngest is in first grade this year. So all day for him. I am sure he will be napping on the bus trip home. Some days it would take the bus driver more than 5 minutes to wake him up at drop off time. He would stagger off the bus wiping the drool from his chin.

All day is gonna wipe him out.

As long as the bus driver remembers to wake him up and drop him off. My brother used to fall asleep on the bus all the time. One time the bus driver didn't relize he was even on the bus till she got back to the bus garage and my Mom had to go get him.

It is surprising easy to fall asleep on a school bus when you're tired. I used to do it quite often. I didn't think it was that big of a deal but apparently it upsets some of the kids. The school principal finally told me that he would be forced to fire me if I didn't quit. Heck I never hit anything.

Yep, school starts tomorrow, so I'm looking at it from the other perspective.

Seventh grade, what a riot! Yep, I'm as nutty as they are.

Can't wait, I've got to get to bed and try to sleep. That's one thing about being a teacher, every year you have another first day of school - new clothes, pencil case, backpack, lunchbox and glad to be back.

Evening all! Just finishing up canning tomatoes. My oldest is off to kindergarten tomorrow. I am very excited for her, but a little sad, too. She is growing up! I know she will do very well. It is all day kindergarten around here. Don't know how her little sis and I will act without her around.
