Hi all....
I am in New Era/Rothbury. That is between Muskegon & Ludington. Anyone close by?

Glad to be here. I am new to chickens this past summer & BYC has become addicting already!

I look forward to building more chicken coops & getting more chicken breeds

Hi right back at ya. I've been to your area but it has been a few years. You are right these birds do get addicting. I've gotten the building bug myself. I've built an 8x8 coop with a 16x16 enclosed run, a 2x4 quarantine hutch with a 4x4 pen, an 8x8 rooster enclosure with covered rooster and a small house, and a 10' tractor. Now I've started building 2 4x6 coops with an enclosed pen under them. I think it is a virus that causes it.

Miss_Jayne, my best friend just told me how easy it is to take care of ducks in the winter...just what I needed to hear, right!

lol I'm doing LOTS OF THINKING ABOUT IT. How do you think that little coop of mine would do with 2 call ducks?

It's got a wire bottom in half and a floor in the other half. This friend is also being the biggest cry-baby wanting 2 of my EEs...one dark and one light one. lol She loves them as much as I do. Gotta think about that too.

well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit, look who's got the duck bug!

(totally had to say that after i mentioned it this morning!)

you could probably get them in there alright with a few adjustments. nothing expensive or drastic. i would probably do a solid floor. or you could always order ANOTHER little house from the man in Lapeer!

those EE's are adorable. i can't say i blame her!

p.s. guess what? i told my husband about the call ducks...he said, "well, now we're going to have to do something about that now, aren't we?" that means he wants some...going to have to add on to the compound!

I know they're very reasonably priced, but I can't afford 2 of them right now...not with all these chickens! If I could only sell these 6 cochin chicks!

Maybe I'll just get 1 of those little duck houses for a couple of call ducks. But I promised myself (and my DH) that I wouldn't bring any more animals to the farm that can't provide something for us. Call ducks...call ducks....too cute to eat, and for some very strange reason I have a mental issue going on when I think about eating a duck egg. I must conquer that issue...I MUST, I MUST!

you'll get it figured out. look on freecycle! better yet, I'LL look! you know i'll find something.

the duck eggs taste identical to the chicken eggs. they just don't scramble well. awesome for poaching or frying.

I'm looking up the person with the call ducks right now. Stay tuned! If you want some, I can let them know how many you want, and you can pick them up at Fowl Fest! Hooray for you....YOU'RE GETTING CALL DUCKS, YOU'RE GETTING CALL DUCKS! (don't just say the words, SING the words! lol)

oh boy! i want three, what colors are available to me? can they give me a call? you can give them my number...you know the digits...
