I just emailed the guy and asked him what he has available. On September 19th, he only had 10 left. I asked him how many he's got, and what ages they are. Forgot to ask about colors...maybe he'll volunteer the info. He's south of Saginaw, so I asked him also if he's going to FowlFest. I'll let you know when he emails me back...I'll probably just call you on the phone.

Hey, since you're so good at finding stuff
smile.png
keep an eye out for me some "duck stuff" too. My biggest need is utility fence to use for them...the kind like you have your ducks in. I'll be putting them in the "chicken shed" with the chickens this winter, but I want to partition them off from the chickens. Thanks! I'll call you as soon as I hear something! I'm singing this song: LOGAN'S GETTING SOME CALL DUCKS, IF MOMMY CAN FIND SOME FENCING! lol

The skillet on the door is not a bad idea, however, it could be open to discussion among the girls as to the actual use to which it could be put. I'm going to hang my grandmother's chicken and dumpling recipe directly over my inside bin feeder. That way they will have no doubt as to my intentions.

nuh-uhhh...you are. and i am, and they are...okay, you were right, we're all crazy.

your ducks are getting ginormous!!!! i was going to snap a pic today, but it was too rainy.
i will snap one tomorrow. seriously, they are huge. they are starting to gather in groups and 'play fight', forage together etc. farther and farther from momma every day...get your poop in a group and get ready for these guys soon!

I'm way past ready for them! So are a few other people around here! I sure hope that guy in Lapeer can make me a house for my ducky's. That would be so cool! If not, well I'm heading for Home Depot tomorrow for more fence, posts and some 2x4's!

i will have Rick call him and ask. his work is nice. i suspect your son and hubby are anxious for the ducks to arrive!!!! i am painting it myself (so it matches my other houses) and we supplied the 3/4" treated plywood for the flooring. other than that, $40. i still cannot believe it. that is with a shingled roof.

miss_jayne since Cub also mentioned dumplings and the recipe is short I decided to post it. When I would visit my grandmother in Arkansas she would have me help her kill an old hen and she would make chicken and dumplings. She said she had been making them this way all her life. So the recipe must be at least 100 years old. She called it her "Never Fail Dumplings". Slow cook stewing hen with salt, pepper, onion according to taste. Remove chicken from broth and debone. Mix well 1 egg, 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 tsp salt, 4 tbsp water, 6 tbsp oil. Turned out on floured surface and roll thin. Cut into 1" wide strips 4" long. Bring broth to rolling boil and slow add dumplings. Cook uncovered. Add chicken back to pot and serve.
