UGH. It's chilly!

I cleaned 5 horse stalls this morning before work...and they have to stay in; way too cold to be out. THen I'll have to clean them again after work. The good thing is that the frozen poop is so much easier to pick out of the stalls; the bad news is that the horses/donkeys will be annoyed they had to stay in. OH well.

I've got a weird issue with one of my chicks, and no one is responding. Anyone ever see anything like this?

of course! maybe it's something that is no big whoop and goes away. like a teenager growing into their nose.

DD is peachy keen. hobbles around fine, but the doc wants her off the foot.
the kids were supposed to go on vacation with my parents this w'end. the doc told her no way, no how. so, she's a little bummed, but she knows she has to be careful.

thank you for asking!

well, yes and no. they were going to an indoor resort and water park. warm inside, but probably not so much outside!

my DS was crying last night, "But Hannah can't go, I want her to go. She'll be sad. I love her...."

he just felt so bad for her.

Every year my parents ( ages 82&83) winter in Gulf Shores alabama, and they always ask me to come down and spend a week with them.

I am always too busy and decline, but this year my wife suggested I take them up on their offer and go.

So I am trying to find a flight in the next couple of weeks to go spend a long weekend with them.

They say it is warm there, and we know it's not here.

My youngest son will take care of the critters for me.

Thanks for your feedback on my little cockerel, guys!

Steve, GO VISIT your folks! I lost my mom when I was 17 and my dad when I was 42. You can't get the years or time back. Plus...who wants to deal with MIchigan winter? HA!

Today looks like a good day to make my quick and easy deer camp chili.

1 lb. venison (or beef) burger, browned and drained.

add

1 large can (26 oz.) Tomato soup
1 large can "Hot" chili (kidney) beans
1 pkg. McCormick chili seasoning mix

I usually throw in a batch of hot dogs while it is cooking for"chili dogs"

Tomato soup? I've never thought of using that, it sounds like a good idea! I usually put a can of tomatoes with jalapenos in, and one can of tomato sauce (DH likes it sorta runny). Also, a chopped onion and a 1/2 of a chopped green pepper. Yep - chili sounds GOOD on a day like today!

I also make mini cornbread muffins; DH loves them!

I hate to break up the bare foot contessa by asking a question.....but hey, someone has to. I had to break down and buy an incubator this morning. The brooders desided they didn't want to be broody on some other hens eggs. Anyway, they were realy cold this morning and I wanted to know if you think they are still alright to hatch? Also, I didn't buy the egg turner thing and so I have a few questions on turing them. Do I want to move them at a different position in the bator or leave them alone. Is it ok to leave them on their sides because I read they need to be point down. Any suggestions for a healty hatch? I'm new at this and could use any help!!
