You have nothing to lose by putting the eggs in the bator. Hopefully all will go well and no damage was done. I've hatched a couple miracles before that I swore couldn't possibly make it.... so ya never know.

Most of my eggs have been hatched on their sides. And the hens certainly don't stand them up to hatch...lol. You can use egg cartons if you wish to stand them up. Either way remember to rotate or turn the eggs atleast 3 times daily ....until you get to the last 3 days.

Best of luck.

I'll let you know how it's going. I am sure that I will have more questions when in comes to candleing them and figuring out if they are good or not. Anyway, Thanks for the advice, it's good to know I have somewhere to turn with all my strange questions!

I have 4 bators 2 are little giants without turners and they were the first 2 I had, the next two are hova 1588's with turners. It was my first time hatching last spring, funny they were eggs from Julie LOL. I started a post on hatching in a little giant incubator and got some great help. I looked it up for ya.

Hope it helps ya out. Alot of people say that a little giant is junk to hatch in but hey they did good for me but I asked for help with them from people who had success with them first. The only thing I would do different is I would raise the bator off the table a little more for better air flow during the hatch, maybe make a frame to set it on. I think that when the chicks started hatching they used up most of the air and raised up there might of been a little bit better air circulation, so a better hatch.

Got 54 eggs from Julie in my 2 hova's right now and 1 from the only chick I have laying eggs right now a BR female who is in with a SG dorking roo.

Good luck on that hatch nothing to lose trying.

Just came in from doing bed check and it's 38 in the coop. Don't know how much lower it will get in there but I think that the girls should be okay. It will be interesting to check the coop temperature in the morning. Sure will be glad when this sub zero spell ends. Stay warm all.

it was -1 degree in my big coop this a.m. got up to a whopping 13 degrees. none of the chickens/turkeys were acting 'cold' or listless. all doing their chicken thing. all the laying chickens laid eggs today also.

I have a heated hanging waterer in the run, but yesterday I didn't see many going outside so I decided to put a 1 gal waterer inside the coop. This morning when I check the girls the waterer was frozen. I took it in the house at shortly was able to take it apart. When I opened it a perfectly formed ice bowl came out. I took it to show Hope and Granny and Hope initially thought I had broken one of her crystal bowl. Amazing the things I've found with chickens.

my hanging waterer freezes at the end of the day. i just bring it in and let it defrost and then refill in the a.m.

now the bowls are a whole other story. i get a lovely ice mold every afternoon. stomp it out and refill.

(i carry out about 10-20 gallons of water a day.) and then there are the 1 gallon waterers in the four brooders in the garage....i might be out of my mind.

those are great. they work well. too bad for me that my waterers that freeze are the for the ducks.

i keep their water outside no matter what. i'm not chiseling ice off their coop floors. they can just suck it up!

the ducks all went swimming today in their water dishes. the Calls had icesicles hanging off of their feathers. i just stood there thinking, "Seriously?" but then i noticed i had icesicles from my eyes watering while i was watching them. who's the dummy now? me! i'm the wiener!
