I just checked....I have 3 Pyncheons wanting to set.....Usually they don't stay dedicated this early to complete the 3 week task....LOL Another Scottish Blackface sheep is about ready to hand out cigars as well. Finally a sunny day and in the 30's....best to all

Well---our family did good at the derby. Josh got first place in the wolf scout division. Our littlest Shannon somehow got 3rd place in the open division with a car her and her daddy worked up this morning. Oldest dd Kara is plotting how to win a trophy for herself next year. It was a fun afternoon for all involved.

Hi All!!!
Sorry to hear about your baby chicks not making it. That is what I went through also. We only hatched out 9. 3 were deformed and didn't make it, one little one never made it out of the shell. But, the six we do have is nice and healthy and running all over!

I will pray that you get some little fuzzy butts!!! My hubby keeps telling me that they are just Chickens!!!

But now he is trying to figure out how to build me a nice spot so the babies can grow once they are hatched out!!!

I just did they both had nasty butts the other was not as bad so I did not see it they are very weak I took the monster fluff ball that hatched yesterday out just now to cuz he was running all over them the bator smells very bad now too. Keep praying for them

Thank you looks like I need a little of the luck of the Irish
They are peeping a lot maybe that is a good sign. The little baby Japanese quail that hatched earlier this week are truly not sure what to make of the monster I put in with them LOL. I am keeping a close eye to make sure all goes well
Rusty do you think the porcelain pyncheon will become an accepted color? And what would you say the standards are for that color
I saw your rooster on feather site very nice looking

Oh Crystal, sorry to hear about the chickies! Hope it gets better.

Way to go kids! Nice trophies!

We added a window to the duck house today, and the duck door. I will post pics soon.

BTW-my toe is much better, I think a good soak in the hot tub tonight will really fix it up!

Gosh!! Wasn't it a beautiful day today?? I was out most of the day and got lots of yard work done. Even let the chickens free range a bit until the neighbor came home and let his dog loose. Idiot! It was so funny. They all ran to the front and were lined up dustbathing. I'd post pictures if I knew how.

Hope you all got to enjoy some of todays weather. Have a good night, everyone.

What a beautiful day!

We worked on the yard, Judy cleaned out the flower beds, I took the little JD and rolled the lawn.

I also got the door built for my gambrel barn. I'll put the bright red steel on later. Now we won't have to look at that ugly blue tarp!

Had mom and dad, our 2 sons and daughter in law and also our grandson over for dinner. I made BBQ chicken on the grill from one of the meat birds we raised. Fed everyone. Judy made baked beans and potato salad, kids brought chips and my mom made chocolate chip oatmeal cookies....man they were good, just like she used to make.

that usually means it took them way too long to burst out.

my guess is that your bator temps may be off, or the humidity.

Lord, bless these little ones and Crystal too!

crystal- so sorry about your babies. I had two very bad hatches- I only had three hatch out of two batches of eggs, all died in shell, including Black Copper Marans eggs. One of the ones that did hatch died. I think it is from my temps fluctuating.

Now, with eighty eggs in the incubators- my stupid furnace goes out. I had very low temps for about six hours when I had no power and now my temps keep bouncing. They read 104 when I woke up, and I just got home from work and they read 95 degrees. I mean, what the heck!!!!!

I just candled, and I have ALOT of dead..that were developing! I am so very bummed, and I still do not have any heat.
My frizzled cochin eggs are the ones I can tell are dead in shell. Due to hatch this Thursday.

The company I called wanted $100 to come out on a saturday, so I said- FORGET it, how much for Monday? $75...then hourly after diagnosis-so thats what I am doing. Saving 25 by freezing our rears off. My furnace is fried.

I have a seminar to attend tomorrow- I will be there all day, so that pretty much guarantees another beautiful day. Sweet dreams everyone...and if anyone has any frizzle pullets they want to send my way- let me know.
