Welcome to all the newbies. This is a great bunch of people who are more than happy to help us new peeps with our chicken adventure. Glad to see more wellies in the area. I am going to cull the non wellsummer pullets from my flock and will soon be 100% wellie.

to all the new peeps.
Opa, congrats on more chicks. You'll have to post pics please.
The new baby is doing well. He is just having a hard time figuring out how to suck. The nurse was feeding him from a little medicine cup yesterday. My sister told me that he did well during the night.
I am extra tired today but I have lots to do. We have to go to Big Rapids sometime today to get fencing for the 21 meaties that we have.
In case I don't get on here later I wanted to wish all the fathers a Happy Fathers Day!

Good morning everyone!!!!!!! Whew, these last two weeks have been busy with open houses, getting the kids schooling squared away, and a garden that's been growing unchecked. I'll probably be MIA most of next week unless I grab a computer while I am in dallas somewhere!

YAY!!!!! Today I am (maybe sort of, kind of) going to Ionia county fairgrounds for birthday bash, big multistage concert

Well it finally happened. My husband actually admitted he really likes having turkeys and the chickens are ok too. MJ he just loves the Sweetgrass and Bourbon Reds. This is a man who had to be talked into the chicken plan. He was more than happy to build anything and enjoys it. He would not hold a baby chick to see how soft they were. And finally today after talking about weither or not the butcher the SG or keep them he says he likes them and does not plan on letting me butcher them. LOL. Maybe next year after we get a real tractor we can get a few ducks.

mj, you have to help me out here. After visiting your farm, i am thinking of web footed friends but the wife says no. I really love your living weed eaters, so maybe I'll buy some mixed eggs sometimes and when they hatch go ooooops

Think i can get away with it?

hi, finally I was able to get on, trying to dry out from last night, basement flooded again but at least the punp was working this time so was not that bad and we had walls up to divert the water to the pump (at least it worked out pretty well)

just checked the garden and only lost 1 cucumber hill and a water melon hill, I may just replant, it is still early enough, well the kids at least says we HAVE to... the hills were washed completly away, I did find the plants a little ways away, going to see how they do replanted **Fingers are crossed** but not hoping to much

lettuce, tomatoes, pumpkins cantaloupe, peppers, corn, strawberries and all the flowers are looking good, none even laying down on the ground

chickens ground is a bit under water in some spots, good thing coop is up off the ground, not a drop in there, and plenty of high ground for them to get out of water... funny little birds have not left the cage today even with the door wide open, must still be scared, the 2 months old are hiding up under the coop, so a couple heads poke out and look at me when I was feeding the older ones but they did not want to come out

well I hope everyone has a great day

Happy Birthday Boyd, hope ya have a great day.

Would also like to say Happy Fathers Day to all the Fathers out there.

Well I have to share that my favorite Brother, the one I like as well as Love (I really don't like my other 6 brothers too much, I love them I just really don't like them to much). Anyway my nother brother David pulled into my yard today with a building on the back of his trailer and he turned it into a chicken house for me.

I am still sooooooooo excited. It was a out house for an old gentleman but he passed away before he could use it. Poor Man.

So David made it into a chicken house for me put up 2 roosts and a nest box with 3 nests. Said I would have to paint it red LOL I laughed and he laughed and said don't say it I know neon purple LOL then he laughed hugged me and said that it was ok with him it was a chick house anyway.

Did I tell ya all I just love my nother brother David.

Hope everyone had a great day, I am still over the moon.

Wow, no messages since early this afternoon.
Water is receding. The chickens actually loved the wet yard, they went wading and found plenty of insects swimming around. I didn't know chickens woud actually go in the water.

Luckily they didn't float away with the current.
I'm going on a road trip tomorrow with my mom and sister - we're going to the Grand Old Opry. DH is in charge of everything.
