Nope, it doesn't ever end. Not until Nov., I think. Constant weeding, and cleaning up after the chickens and oh, yeah, the inside of the house has to be dusted and mopped. No....it never ends......

that's what makes it 'fun' right?

Rick was building a foundation for one of the coops tonight and we ran out of light, so onward tomorrow. then a second foundation after that. then i can paint them. then the chickens can go into them.

then, we can build 5 more tractors. i mean, what in the world? but, it is good work even though it's hard, you know? we feel satisfied when we finish a project. our kids our learning, we are filling our freezers etc.

Talk about an enabler! I have two extra chicks here that you so slyly left behind!! They're both doing great, by the way. Moe has adopted Funky's chick now. Funky wants to get out with her flock, again. But, she comes and checks on the chick all the time. It's so funny to see them!

Yep, it's cool that the kids are learning the real facts of life! There was a thread about kids not knowing that plants come from seeds....so it's good to teach them about life first hand. Honest hard work....nothing like it!

yes, that is so true. you wouldn't believe how many 'rural' kids out here come over and say, "OH MY GOSH! are those real chickens?"

Elizabeth has been acting as farm manager for the last few months and doing quite well. The only task she doesn't perform is to actually put an bird down. she has not had to 'go there' yet, but eventually, it will be a reality.

we will be butchering in several weeks, so she will be culling for that purpose and i think she'll do well. we'll see. other than that, she is pretty great and improving all the time.

off to bed with me i think. i'm starting to feel the dumbness coming on! goodnight to all!

i popped on to say good evening and goodnight again, but truth be told, I am having a hard time sleeping. I am sore all over. Sunday afternoon we went to my uncles house for a surprise 80th birthday party, and the younger cousins and my kids lured me into a game of football in the back lawn...

Well I didn't end up breaking my glasses after all, but I did end up with various gouges and bruises, plus a black eye

I have sore muscles that I've never remembered having sore muscles at before so I am sort of just chilling out here in front of the fan, having a cocktail and hoping this aspirin kicks in

Trouble sleeping, sore from youthful activities, sounds like old man disease is starting to kick in. It will only get worse.
