Morning everyone

Another day at work...is it tomorrow yet? No more exploding duck eggs so far

I have 13 in there...and I just realized they'll be ready to come to chicken stock with me. YAYEE! My husband is not all that excited about having ducks so they'll probably all go but one or two as a pet. A friend of mine has some ducks and doesn't do anything with the eggs so whenever I animal-sit for her I collect the eggs and bater them. Here's some pictures of the ducks she has, which are the ones who laid these eggs I'm hatching out.

This is the drake! (the other two are his girls...the white one is one I hatched out last year...she came from the eggs of the other 3)

this is one of the girls and the drake again.

girl in the middle, drake on the right and the white one (who does have some light tan on her) is thier baby from last year. There is one other girl but she was mad at me for stealing her eggs and she wouldn't let me take her picture

If anyone is interested in the baby duckies let me know, I'm going to post pictures once they start to hatch of course!

HAHAHA! Yeah, we've caught 4 chipmucks, 3 rabbits,1 skunk and 1 cat so far. The morning we caught the skunk I saw that the trap had gone off and my 5yr old daughter ran outside to take a look cause looking out at it from the house it looked like maybe we caught a squirrel....ya.....she came running back saying it was a BIG black squirrel! AH!

So luckily she didn't get sprayed and we disposed of the little varmit. I have to go buy a new big livetrap...I kinda forgot about my big one while mowing the yard and kapowee....smooshed! LOL Oh well, what are you going to do!
What do you use in your traps to catch the racoons? I usually just use peanut butter and walnuts(or cat food for cats)...but I've never caught a racoon. Anyone ever try the "Where the Red Fern Grows" method where their hand gets stuck when they grab for something shiney?

I love the bats they eat all those misquotes.

when we first moved here we had a bat in are basement, are garage goes right into the basement, and it must of got when the door to the garage was open and the door to the basement,, my son was done in the basement and said bat MOM, BAT!!!!

and I'm like what ever, then i look down the stair and see the shadow of a bat flying around, OH MY Gosh!!!

we tried to get it to go back out the door but couldn't some how it finally got out.

I buy a can of sardines from Save a Lot. They are cheeper there. I put dog food in a plastic baby food jar and a little sardine and mix it. My Uncle a block over has gotten at least 7 racoons and he is using marshmallows, the mini ones. We have used tuna also and it work too.

Talking about catching critters in live traps... Something keeps hitting our garbage in the garage. We have 2 set up right now. DH asked for the stinky stuff in the can - meaning the cat food - and I brought out his kipper snacks!! Well, I think they stink! So far we've caught the dog - dumb thing! - and almost the cat.

I used hot dogs to catch cats and raccoon. Also, bologna works good. Anything fishy will work too. What every you can use to catch cats and opposums will work for raccoons.

MJ the sweetgrass turkeys are starting to kinda like me again. Or at least they are talking to me again. I am thinking I have 1 tom and 1 hen? Is that what the females are called? One of their snoods is growing and it's head is a darker pink than the other.

yep. you can call them tom and hen, jake and jenny or whatever you want!

yeah for you! i am hoping i have a tom and hen too! i am sweating it out over here. i have seen one displaying his feathers the other not.
aren't they gorgeous????

Yes they are beautiful. The Bourbon Reds and the Sweetgrass are going out the the coop Sunday. The roos and big turkeys are going in to be processed. I have rooster missing half or most of their tail feathers from them fighting.
