If they were in a convent wouldn't that make them sisters?

Well, I think the odds are looking better and better for my vulture headed chicken. She's pretty pitiful looking with all the feathers missing from her head. I've covered the bare and bloody areas with ointment and I've got her on Poultry Drench and tonights she's chirping and more importantly she's eating. I briefly considered culling her knowing she is going to be ugly, but if that is the criteria than my folks would have wrung my neck 63 years ago.

Thanks for the laughs!

6 hours later my gardens are weeded, tilled, and watered. Dont' know if I will be able to move tomorrow morning. But a bike ride is planned for morning exercise.

Good night all!

I was very surprised tonight when I was able to actually get my DH to say that he thought that getting chickens was a good idea.

I took him to a farm store that we had never been to before and they had some Hubbard Broilers? for sale. There was two different sizes and they were only a week or so apart in age. He started asking questions about the meat birds and then turned to me and said "Lets go check out the chicken feed" Is this MY DH or a stranger??

He loved the pictures of our DD at Chickenstock with the baby ducks/chicks, and of us with the wyandotte rooster (my fav pic). So now after discussion it looks like we might be getting 10-15 chicks in the spring, I suggested maybe getting a couple of older hens that were laying, and what the heck throw in a couple of Royal Palms and possibly some of those pretty Dixie something or others. That would seem to be 20+ which is pretty darn close to the original 11 I had intended right?? I sure am glad I told him we needed a big coop. I will keep working on him with the rooster issue, but I'm thinking I got a good chance now.

Oh my gosh! So exciting! I'm, sorry its taking me so long to come get them. Its been really hectic. We're still moving and I'm in and out of town. But, I'll PM you so we can set something up.

Good morning. I am hoping today is better than yesterday. I has to be, we are going to the fair tonight with the kids. I am hoping to talk to a few people about 4-H. Looking at all the animals and the poultry barn. We had to go to help out my FIL last night. He is a postman, and was bitten by a large dog yesterday on his arm. He can barely open and close his hand. He is pretty upset about it.
