That's what my property looked like this morning, and it's still spitting out snow periodically. I let the chickens out to free range this morning, worried they wouldn't want to go outside, but NOPE. It was business as usual for them. A few of them even seemed to enjoy the snow as much as I do. I love to snowshoe, and there's enough in the woods for me to strap them on and take a hike

Feel free to send me your snow, I love it.

It's why I came to Michigan!

Well the chickens are fed and watered and I've got some celery soup simmering on the stove for tonight's supper. I think that I've earned myself a nap. I had thought about going out hunting tonight but since David can't make it I think I will pass as well. Something about being an old man tells me that hunting by myself probably isn't a good idea. Most of the deer that I have taken over the years I've gotten out of the woods by myself but lately they seem heavier than they used to.

Hi. I'm in the snow belt as well not too far from you. Just took the plunge today and decided to register. Planning a coop this winter to start a small flock in the spring. The coop I can build in my shed but now the snow is going to make constructing the run that much more difficult. Planning for 8 BR pullets and might try 2 guineas. Jury is still out on the Guineas you know what they say about the best laid plans

Been through three coop designs already and still trying to make the last one workable. Oh well I will have plenty of time to think about it before I start up the table saw. Want to thank everyone on BYC for the wealth of information I have gleaned lurking here over the past 6 months. Happy Holidays

I Guess it's going to take me a little time to learn the ropes here I was responding to a post on the first page and didn't realize it would post Waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy back here. My bad
Regardless Hello everyone.

The food looks delicious!

I made homemade soup for lunch and Rachel and I are the only ones who ate it...so we are having it for dinner too! The kids will thank me for it

How long ago was that? I used to be at the gaines bar a bit

I lived at 11012 Duffield Rd. (corner of Duffield and Ray) from 1992 to 1998. It was a cute little house when I lived there. I kept the flowerbeds and lawn immaculate but my daughter says the people who live there now have really let it get run down. So sad.

I had chickens when I lived there. Mostly Aracaunas and a cute Bantam rooster. Also had an African goose and a Toulouse. One day I came home from work on an extremely hot summer day and someone had left a cardboard box in my driveway with 12 white chicks in it! Thank god they were all OK.
I was only in the Gaines bar once. I heard it was a pretty rowdy place.
