Well theres about 5" of snow on my deck. The 2 Dober pups werent all that thrilled with it as its almost up to their bellies. Libby the Dachshund looked at me as like "you think Im dragging my belly through that? You're nuts. So I had to get the shovel out and make her a path. LOL

Its beautiful though, the trees are holding a good part of snow and the branches look so shinny and clean instead of dark and dead. This is a picture out my doorwall in my dinning room.

Oopsy that is just beautiful.
My little dog doesn't like the snow either and we have to shovel or plow a path to the potty area for him if the snow gets "Pippin" deep. This is Pippin.

Hillbilly Hen: He is a dolly. So cute. Is he a terrier mix? His coloring looks like a manchester terrier.

I love the small dogs. Wish I could have more, but with the huge dogs I have, makes it hard for a small dog.

I just added up the pounds of my giant breeds and the 2 pups. I have 643 pounds of dog LOL they weigh almost as much as that black bear. No wonder I go through 100# of dog food a week along with about 30 pounds of raw chicken necks and wings.

I called Lapeer County about removing all the dead deer off I-69 between Lake Pleasant Rd and Neppessing Rd weekly, as there are at least 10-20 everytime I drive to town. I thought I would feed them to my dogs raw and send the surplus to Summer Wind Farms Sanctuary in Brown City to feed their Lions, Tigers, Jaguars, Leopards, Bobcats and Mountain Lions. There reply was....a firm "NO" with no explanation in the least.

So they leave them on the expressway to rot and never pick them up. How healthy is that for the environment and us?

Maybe I should call USDA? Or how about our Governor? LOL Any suggestions?

Ok Im done babbling for now.

Good Morning!

I just saw a bald eagle on our property!!!!! I have never seen a wild one before

He flew over the coops, luckily the hens are all in due to the snow.

Off to get lunch going. We had quite a bit of snow. I will have to go and measure it. But I am guessing 5 inches or so.

I don't know how far you are from me ( we are in Conway Township), but there has been one flying here. I've seen him lurking about in the trees. Maybe it's the same one.

They are beautiful birds, and even though they are probably looking for my chickens, I love seeing them.

Hi everyone! Some of you know I am a 4-H leader for small animals, poultry, rabbits, dogs, goats, etc. It is time to start thinking of the kids projects for the year, especially poultry as they need time to feather out before fair and our fair is in July, so quite early in the year. This year I would like to help the kids find their birds/eggs/chicks locally instead of trying to rely on hatcheries, which have inferior stock, delay shipments on us, we usually have to order way more than we need, last year due to a cold snap, we lost over half the chicks, the hatchery refunded the money, but that didn't help the kids with their birds.

So, please let me know what you have or will have in the near future! It can be eggs, chicks or adult birds available at reasonable prices to 4-H kids. If you know the background of your birds, please let us know that too. I have kids interested in both bantam and large fowl, ducks, turkey and geese, so let me know what you got!! I will make a list and go over it with the kids and start contacting people and see if we can make arrangements.

Let me also say, these are great kids!! We have a small club, all very active. We had one member age out last year, 2 enter college this year but are still young enough to compete, rare that they want to, but these kids love their animals! One is my daughter Rachel and the other Emmali is going to be a Vet!! Then we have a senior, junior and sophomore. Fortunately we got some young blood too, we have my youngest son, who just turned 10 (but is 9 4-H age, age as of Jan 1), an 8 year old, 6 year old and my youngest who turns 6 next month. We all camp together, eat together, the big kids are great with the little ones, it is a wonderful club!

LMC, I just checked out your page. I love your pictures! The ones of your bulldog are adorable-what a sweetheart!

Thank you! She's an absolute love hound and big baby. Unfortunately people think she's a pit bull and look at us weird. We just brought a hamster home the other day and she thinks it is her baby. She kisses it and whines for it to come out of the cage. She lays next to it and tries to cuddle it. She's a doll

LMC, First, people are weird, they think all kinds of things are pit bulls, so I wouldn't worry about that too much. I also looked at your signature line about looking for a new puppy, bulldog, papillon or long haired chihuahua. Ok, the last two are similar, long haired, small toy breeds, but a bulldog puppy?

OK?! Don't get me wrong, ADORABLE, just not on the same page!! For what it's worth, I LOVE the bully breeds!!

I have or have had boston terriers, French bulldogs, and an english bulldog rescue. I also love the rest of the bullies, all adorable!

Oh Vicky - too funny. We had a Boston Terrier who we lost to cancer a year ago. We've always loved the English bulldog (looooved our Boston too) but somehow also fell in love with the big lug American Bulldog. Hubby still dreams of one day having an English bulldog, my son has been praying for a long haired Chihuahua for over a year and I also like the Papillon. So that's the philsophy behind that

I just love animals. Plain and simple

This morning Channel 7 said that Howell got just over 3 inches of snow. I found out that it was 2-3 inches over that and where it drifted may 5-8 over 3 inches. Stupid weather man. Hope's sister has a dog that looks as if it rear ended something. Face all shoved in. She calls it Peaches but I always call it BUD. Finally she asked why I insisted on calling it that. I thought everyone knew the only logical name for a smashed faced dog would be BUD (butt ugly dog). Silly old woman couldn't see the humor in that.
