Thought that with all this talk of spring, and broodys and hatching that this might be an appropriate post.

Me either!

Hey Sarah! Thanks for speaking up! Thought I was the only one who never had a paczski touch my lips!

They don't look that great! I would take a cinnamon twist donut over one of them.... a good old favorite! And probably less calories

My chickens pop door opens at 8am and you will usually find everyone of my hens and the Roo's up near my hay barn basking in the sun , digging around where the hay has been dropped , or picking through the snow. The only time I dont open their door is when its blowing rain or very low wind chill. Otherwise they crab if I dont let them out.

My chickens go out every day-they do not like the snow- but they go out on their own free will and will huddle during bad weather under their porch or under an abandoned rabbit hutch. They much prefer to walk in a path I have shoveled, and some times, I have to watch where I am shoveling because they will stick right behind me as I make a path.

I have two hatched Jersey Giants, two pips. The two silkies from yesterday did not hatch.
I have a question- the two babies will be okay in the incubator until I get home from work- five ISH. Right?

There! That should wake you up. Hope didn't want to drive on the snow so I took her to work and I didn't even go inside to get more paczskis.

Good Morning...think I should name one of the peeps, Packzi?
I have three now. My cat just used up one of her nine lives- and about gave me a heartattack. She knocked the top off my incubator!!! Thankfully I was right there, filling up my coffee cup. I screamed, she ran, and I snatched the top off the floor and set it back up. No eggs or peeps were harmed but my heat/humidity went right out the window, Im sure. One egg is in the middle of zipping. Hopefully it will be okay.

Good morning Everyone.

Sevenchicks- I open the door my coop every morning at 8 with breakfast. All winter they have probably not come out or went back in early on their own maybe a half dozen times. They wont walk around in the snow in their run but have no problem free ranging. I shovel paths for them, and they stick to the middle of thse paths. They have dug down to black dirt all over the place. So much for grass in the Spring. LOL

My indoor girl Gabby always lays her egg in a big dog bowl (the avatar) on the buffet in the dining room. Yesterday My 10 year old son had some friends over . they were all up in his room. Gabby decided to go up there and lay her egg in a corner on the carpet between the wall and some shelves. His room is black and gray with black curtains, so I guess it felt cozy. But there were 3 ten yr olds up there. Any way the she missed laying Saturday. OH no she didn't there were 2 eggs under her. It was a good chuckle. (life kind of revolves around kids and pets around here)

Happy Fat Tuesday

Susanne, what a hoot! To bad you cant give her a Roo to hang with for a few days, so she could brood her own babies.

I just put 32 Isa eggs in the incubator this morning as I thought heck, Im gonna make my own birthday gift. Babies should hatch that day and grand daughter Autumn's 5 yr old birthday is 2 days later, so you know what she's getting for her B-Day. She'll be excited. That child LOVES baby chicks. Pesters you constantly to "go see" the baby chicks. Alex whom will be 4 in a few days, picks them up..oh cute baby chick and tosses them back down like its just another toy someone brought him. Boy are these 2 babies completely different from each other. Autumn is going to be REPETE of her mother. Crazy Chicken Fever has her hands full and better think about buying more property if Autumn comes home with half the critters "needing" a new home like her mother did to me. LOL Life is good.

We had a surprise introduction last night, but I'll let Crazy CF tell you all about it.

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful morning, huge snow flakes coming down...warm out. My hens are loving the warmer weather the last 2 days. And no high winds YEAH!

Eat a paczski for me, as Ive never had one. So guess I dont know what Im missing?
