john blehm in birch run has amerecaunas. he takes orders through the chickhatchery but when you order you can select to pick up instead of ship. he also has lakenvelder, hamburg, dominique, chantecler. not sure how close birch run is to you.

Here is the site that I used to get my male doberman a cage muzzle. They even have a size for dachshunds. Just measure the lenth or her nose to make sure it will fit.

Also if you are crafty, buy a pair of toddler fleece/heavy cotton under pants for boys and get some sew on velcro , cut a hole for the tail and you can also fold up paper towels for the inside ...I made a pocket for my dobe female when she was in heat to hold the paper towels. Use the strips of velcro to sew around the waist to tighten so she cannot get them off.

Good luck, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Yeah!! We got our bathroom vanity fianlly! Just got thru painting the bathroom. Tomorrow we install the mirror and vanity and on Monday the counter guy come out to make the template of the vanity. Will have to wait 2 more wks for the counter. In the meantime, I can seal all the grout and DH can install the toilet and shower curtain rod. Almost there! Beautiful day out! Chickens got to enjoy it. Wish more snow would have melted for them, but it'll get there. Have a good evening.....

Good evening everyone. This is the first time all day I have sat down except at meals. We have been in the process of finishing our basement for the last couple of years, when we have the extra money. Today was the go threw boxes, put camping gear into it's new place and holiday stuff into it's new place, stuff like that. We took a break at 2pm to go outside and clean both coops out. The temp was nice out, but that made for a muddy yard. Finally after dinner back to the basement. Not done but we are getting there, to tired at this point to finish tonight. Hopefully I can sleep in tomorrow.

Eggstra, glad you found us. They're sure a lot of nice helpful people on the Michigan thread and you are a welcomed addition. Be sure to click on the link in my signature line. It will direct you to the information about Chickenstock. Last years was a great time and this year it should be even better.

This is just a silly late night/early morning question. Does anyone know if chickens are supposed to have a certain amount of hours sleeping. My girls go to bed at 8pm and are up with the sun. But Gabby the house chicken is still awake watching Tv with Hubby and eating

Weird? should't she be asleep?

Opa does in fact mean grandpa in German which probably explains why I am old.

The run was designed with snow load in mind and even with last winters heavy snowfall it didn't sag in the least.

iluvcks, the netting is a heavy weight netting that I got from Cutler Supply. If you'd like I wouldn't mind explaining how I supported it. It is amazing how much snow will stick to netting and how much the netting can stretch. A friend lost a pen of pheasants when the snow load collapsed the netting, so I was very concerned about support. Last winter over 12 inches of snow was standing on the netting without any sag. While the heavy weight netting is expensive if amortized over its expected life its actually cheaper.

Oh the coffee is on if you'd care for a cup.

Opa,
I would be interested in specifics on how you supported it- I am interested in covering my chickens area with netting. I have supplied the hawk with enough food, thank you very much. The area I need to cover is approximately fifteen feet by twenty feet..however there is a darn Pine tree located in my chicken yard. I am really at a loss on how to cover this space. One long side is the back of my house- one short side is a privacy fence/property line, the other short side is house/chicken coop...the last long side is split rail fence with approximately four foot high above the split rail, is green garden fencing. I dont mind the sparrows coming in to the yard, its the hawk I want to keep out.
I used blank cds on fishing line across the top zig zagging it however, that didnt last long, the fishing line ended up snapping over time.
