SevenChicks: Thank God you and yours are okay. I watched a house burn when I was 17yrs old, and it haunted me for most of my life. I still have nightmares about it. Fires are one of my biggest fears. And the reason my brooders and heat lamps are in my shop which is a cinder block building and I use horse troughts. I melted a tote last year and promised myself that will never happen again.

HillBillyHen: Hope all went well this morning and you have by now, had your fill of coffee and enjoying yourself to a wonderful lunch with hubby.

I have inquired about a trio of Sebastopol Geese but if anyone here on the forum has a trio for sale, please let me know. I would rather buy from a member than a stranger.

Have any of you tried hatching Swan eggs before? I have been offered a dozen and dont know a thing about them.

You have the kindest heart of anyone that I have ever met. ((HUGS))

I just came from Livingston Feed and Seed in Howell. Nice folks. They carry DE in bulk so you can buy any amount. For those of you that want certified organic that carry it in chick starter, grower, and layer. Last year I was in there looking for Poultry Drench and they didn't know about it. They now carry it, several other poultry meds and have Vet RX on order.

Well, the honeymoon is over. These turkeys are driving me crazy. One of the biggest reasons I hate bringing home adult birds. NO ONE tames 'em like we do and chores are SO MUCH HARDER with flighty freakin' birds. Especially those that weigh 20 lbs.

Hey everyone! Anyone currently in the area of Battle Creek/Kalamazoo or farther south Sturgis/Coldwater area have any ducks or guineas for sale? Also..... anyone want a 1 yr old Embden goose? She's laying now. She's not friendly...but she also doesn't attack. She was supposed to be Christmas dinner... but I just can't eat her

I've also got a 1 yr old African that is very people friendly (thinks I am her mate as it were) but she has angelwing

I'll keep her unless someone is interested in having more of a pet goose around just for kicks

They both do well with chickens and other birds. They are actually living in the coop with my chickens now. They free range during the day.

I never intended to keep them, but after having butchered the one, I just realized that the bigger birds aren't for me (butchering-wise) I'll stick to the smaller stuff.

M2em all nothing ready to hatch at all. The yougest chicks I have are the ones I ordered from ideal, they are a week old now. You can have a couple of the packing peanuts, they are Black Australop roos. I alos have some chicks I hatched from my own birds but they are just over 2 weeks now. I know you can't have roos though, but it would be something to put under her. PM me if you want.

HBH I hope everything goes well with your test today and you get to have a nice lunch with your husband.

LMC we have our little poop eater too. Sometimes it is due to things lacking in the diet, add raw egg yolk to her food can help with that, just a couple times a week, but what really helped was pineapple. I would buy the big cans of the chunks and use it for a treat after potty time. After a couple days he stopped eating his own poop. Now both my dogs think chicken poop is the best treat in the world.

Hi everyone. moved the chicks out to the coop yesterday. last night was a bit tense but everthing was fine.
Put my outdoor temp senser inside the coop to keep an eye on temps. Also put a extra wire on the light.
IM happy wifes happy grandkids happy chicks happy

Anybody else having issues with seasonal allergies right now? I know it is the pollen that I'm having issues with. My goodness, it is awful for me this year! I usually am in and out of the house. And as long as it's nice out in the evenings, we spend each evening out. Today, I can't even bare it! It's nice, but windy, so I'm feeling a little guilty that I'm staying tonight. It has been hitting me at night -- sinus headaches and sore throat. Everytime I went out today, my sinuses and throat immediately started bothering me. Just wondering if anyone else is having issues.

Yes! I've never had allergies, ever. I tried a couple of different medicines, and zyrtec worked for me. Doesn't make me drowsy, and I can function. I saw a news story not too long ago saying the allergens were the worst in years. I guess they were bad enough this year for even me to be affected.

Okay, I thought I'd heard that, too! I can be affected by them, but never, ever this badly. Hubby wants to go camping in a couple of weeks and I hope I'm doing better by then! Tonight I will be hiding from the great outdoors!
