Hey, does anyone here use kelp as a supplement? I'm thinking about giving it to my yaks, sheep, chickens and ducks, as well as sprinkling some in the pastures. I don't know where to get it, though. Anyone know? I'm also having a hard time finding good, quality DE. The closest feed store sells Red Lake Earth brand, but it's not the greatest stuff.

Kelp is found in/on most fine dinning salad bars as a garnish. If you have hunt club or restaurant near you , ask for their kelp that they toss out constantly. Im lucky to have such from the restaurant that I managed for almost 18 yrs ...give me theirs weekly.n Kelp is not only good for the critters , but for humans too.

Ask Opa about DE near Howell..seems he does suggest it to others in the area.

Your eggs should be hatching around the end of the month..cant wait to see what we get.

I haven't been able to find bulk kelp from anyone local (if you find a source let me know) I was thinking about ordering it from Countryside natural. Opa has said that you can get DE from Livingston Feed and Seed, I've also ordered it from Cutlers.

You can also get DE at the feed store ( same exact stuff that Livingston Feed and seed) at Geyer Auction Services ( I think I spelled that right) in Webberville, MI. It's on Grand River Ave. I went there last Saturday to check out the auctions and the feed store. They might carry kelp, I'll ask when I go back in there.

I have a new 4-H family in my group. They are a 9yr old boy and a 12yr old girl , we are looking for birds that would be ready to show in August at our county fair. They currently have large breeds only but they really need a couple bantam hens to do showmanship with. The only preference to breed is a calm one, no need in excellent show quality just good natures. If anyone has any PLEASE let me know via PM as soon as possible. Depending on the price and location we will pick them up.

Longest day ever today. It feels like it turned into Tuesday. Did all the normal day stuff, then after dinner we got into the shed we bought for our bantam coop. Cleaned it out, started chicken proofing and laying out where everything will go in it. It will be nice to get the chicks outside. I am thinking this will be the last time we brood turkeys and maybe even chickens in the house. The dust kicks the allergies into overdrive, but the bad smell from 8 BBB poults is awful. They are in the basement, but that is still the house. Last year we only did 2 meat breed turkeys, not to bad. 8 makes too much poo.

No frost on the truck!!! Looks like a beautiful day and , of course, I got to work. Hoping for a 4 day weekend to at least get the yard cleaned up.
I have not caught up on all the posts so I hope I did not miss anything good.
Welcome to all the newbies!!!!

Good morning, everyone! I am heading up to Lennon to meet MrsChickendad this afternoon. Picking up a little frizzle cochin (hope I don't leave with anything else, lol.) Looking forward to meeting her!
