Thanks, Opa! What kind of chicks are you hatching? As I said, I am new to being a chicken owner and would LOVE to hatch some of my own someday! I would have to build a larger coop though! I am currently at capacity of a 4 x 8 coop.

I was greedy and filled it with the first purchase!!

I have heard about Chickenstock (from our vet even!) and we may see if we can make it! Sounds like fun!!

I currently am hatching all bantams. Spangled Hamburgs, Blue Orpingtons, and Vorwerks. While all of the chicks will be cute the vorwerks are pretty unique in that they hatch having yellow heads with black bodies and as they feather out they develop black heads and tails with a gold body.

Good Evening!

We are 1/2 through with the Music Man production

There was a lady who came up to Emily after today's performance and said she saw 3 out of the 4 performances this weekend

Opa- you should bring Granny and Hope. They would enjoy it.

Pigs are adjusting to their new home and the kids are out playing with them. The meat chickens have made it through this weekend storms in their outside pen.

Off to get some work done!

Sarah

Hey yes this town is known for the Gizzard Fest. But have to admit that we have never gone as we just moved here from Grand Ledge/Haslett area late last summer and missed it. We plan to attend this years so we will find out more then. Yes, whats a few more? is the question aroud this house.lol. I just am glad that I found this website that has helped ALOT so far. Looking forward to Chickenstock as well since it is close to us, would love to join in on the fun, but have to convince DH first!lol. Thanks everyone for the welcomes.

I guess I just can't leave the house tomorrow! Hubby just got the brooder cleaned up this afternoon! lol

Opa, those are so cute!!! Wish I had room for a few...

I havent been on here in a while. trying to catch up.

MIW I am so glad it sounds like you have found homes for your goats. I even talked to DH about it. He said absoulty not. We would have to have them in the garage untill other accomidations were made. And since the addition to the coop just got started yesterday, and the chicks are 8 weeks. Well....I don't think so.

all new folks. Wonderful people here

Mommahen, as we would love to have your DH come, you don't have to bring him!!

My DH doesn't come, either. Leave him home to watch over the animals! Had a great visit with Babbett today! Loved her place and all her animals!! It was lots of fun. Been so busy, looking for a place to rent for my son, babysitting for my grand kids overnight and again tomorrow night. In between, trying to take care of the animals and DH. Feels like I'm running in circles.
Good Night, all.

Welcome, to the new posters. Keep reading and keep posting so we can all get to know you.

We worked most of the weekend on the hoop house. Put the stinky

meat turkeys outside in it. How are they doing you ask?

All sitting in the open side getting rained on.

I had to go out into the rain and move them to the back which is covered.

My husband and I both agree. No more brooding anything in the house. It is one thing to keep one in that is hurt for a couple days. Next year outside with the brooders, either in the shed or my husband said he would even consider building a small coop just for brooding chicks.

Wow, it was a busy weekend on this thread. WELCOME to all new eggs, best of luck with your new obsession. All is well here. We really needed the rain. Did a little work on a dog kennel to get ready to move the chicks into stage two. The little nankin chick flew right out of the tote today when I was cleaning it. It loves to sit on my shoulder and just take everything in. The mystery chick we were given (was rather lethargic and feared something was wrong) is nursed back to health and though quite docile is also a pistol with the other chick. It enjoys sitting in a cupped hand. We are blessed to have friends that are willing to give us these adorable additions to the flock.

here is the mystery chick anyone want to make a guess. My friend said it was from the bantam bin at TSC.
