Supper came out great I only wish that I had thought to put a few fennel seeds on the kraut as it cooked. Didn't make the corn bread opted for crispy fried potatoes instead. Granny made the black eyed peas and while they were quite good she made enough for an army. She can't seem to grasp the concept of cooking just enough for the 3 of us to have only one meal of what ever she makes. Yesterday she wanted to make a rhubard/strawberry crisp. I told her since Hope and I don't particularily care for it only make a small one. I came home to discover a 10x18x2 pan filled.

Another question about processing. Has anyone used Boyers (in Livonia) and Miller's (in Fowlerville)? I was just wondering how they compare. I've taken birds to Boyer's because they seem a little more easy going and I've been really happy with the job they do but honestly it's like a little northern depot of the hills of Appalachia. I kind of get the jitters when I go there, I'm usually alone, maybe it is just the type of place it is.

Since processors seem to be the topic, anyone know of one close to the Lansing, Jackson area? I bought 10 Freedom Rangers from Ellen for the kids to take to fair, but we should have 4 left over and then I picked up some Beltsville Small White turkeys to try.

I know the thread has been active the last day or two talking about MRTFA and everything, but anyone catch my post about the Chickenstock t-shirts? Any interest?

Send Granny over to my house. I have teenagers and they have friends.

You'd better be hanging on to your hats when you go outside today. Doesn't look like it's going to be very nice if you need to work outside. Cold, gloomy, high winds but at least it isn't snow.

Evidently you haven't looked at the weather they've had in Tennessee and Kentucky. Lots nastier than here. Ask the folks in Nashville.

One of my coops blew open last night during the storm and I am now missing my fovorite BLRW roo. I looked all over this morning, but cannot find him anywhere.

This was the sweetest roo ever, and I'm really going to miss him.
